Creating a strain

Evening all

 

I mentioned in a previous topic a while back that I wanted to create a one off strain for myself but also as a surprise gift for a friend of mine.

 

I want to get 3 different strains and make them into 1 plant.

 

Now I admit this is all new territory for me so correct me if I'm wrong here (and forgive my ignorance to terminology, I have no idea and I've just used Matt's basic language ) but would the easiest thing to do in my case be to order a few feminized seeds of the strains I want and then do a 5 stage grow to get the final plant I want?

 

For example...

 

Stage 1: Grow plant A and 'seed' it with collodial silver water (By 'seed' it I mean create pollen sacks on a female plant)

 

Stage 2: Grow plant B and polinate it with A's pollen to create AB seeds

 

Stage 3: Grow AB and 'seed' it with collodial silver water

 

Stage 4: Grow C and polinate it with AB's pollen to create ABC seeds

 

Stage 5: Grow ABC

 

In my little knowledge on this subject I am unsure but to me, the above looks like it will give me what I'm after for a one off plant. Am I close or nowhere near the mark?

 

I also understand that there is a lot of cross breeding to be done in order to make a valid and stable strain but if I'm just after a one off with the above 5 stages give me what I require?

They would need to be 3 very stable strains. Many strains have 2 or more phenotypes, so you may need to grow a few of each strain and select the traits you want. This is generally the reason for creating hybrids anyway, to select the traits you want.

I have 2 of the 3 strains already picked.

 

Plant A is undecided.

 

Plant B will be either Trainwreck or THC Bomb but probably Trainwreck.

 

Plant C will be White Widow or Wipeout Express but probably White Widow.

 

All plants above can come in regular, feminized and auto seeds and have been around for a while now so I am assuming that they are stable enough for me. Just gotta lock in Plant A now.

Good luck with your venture. I crossed a few strains for shits n giggles with a few lucky keepers. Interested to see what you come up with man: ). I hear Durban poison is stable and good for breading.

you should think about crossing A and B together a few times before adding C.. so you can identify a few of the traits that you want to pass over.

 

 here is a small chart to making a new stable strain.. but just a guideline.

 

 ive made a few crosses.... but would not cross anything else onto them untill i know they are stable.

It's a shame it takes so long to do. Especially when you're as impatient as me ay!

 

I will carry on with more reading up and take it from there but whatever happens, I will complete this task at some point in my life.

Have you heard of the bansai sultan method? I been reading into it a bit and thinking of trying it pretty soon.
