Should I top it?

Recommended Posts

I've never been so unfortunate and had my plants suffer from light burn but the other day I left them unattended for 36 hours and they decide to grow rapidly and 2 got some burns.

Here's a couple of quick snaps from my phone. Should I top the plant to remove the burns or just leave it?

(Autos that have just started flower nutes and have about 3 weeks left before harvest)

I'm just going on the strains advised times. 8 weeks (56 days) takes me to the 24th of June and 9 weeks (65 days) takes me to the 1st of July.

It does seem to be a few days ahead of itself by about 4 days but we shall see what happens. They are growing fast and there are numourous bud sites all over the plants as you can see in the grow diary. They also started to pre flower quite a while ago.

I don't mind if it takes longer then the advised 56 - 65 days either but thats besides the point in this matter.

I don't really want to be lopping of any burnt and damaged tops if I can help it but just wondered what others have done in their experiences.

The damage looks pretty superfical, so I'd let the plant continue to flower without touching the damaged bits.

edit... oh and yeah, I agree with the guys, no way that will be ready to cut in 3 weeks, more like 5 or 6 weeks.

Being an auto I would leave it be...having grown a number of these outdoors last season I know that the guide times are just that. I have 2 that have been flowering now for 7 weeks so should have about 3-4 to go and the buds on mine look a bit more formed than yours. Under ideal conditions then the time quoted for flowering would be right but who has the "ideal conditions" very few of us I would have thought. Good luck and give her 5-6 weeks to finish properly.

Yea, this is the first try with autos so it's sort of new to me as I'm used to a normal grow cycle and saying that, it's been quite a few years so I'm not úsed'to it anymore. lol

They are still feeding alright so I will monitor and take it from there.

In fact, they are feeding very well and between the 4 plants I'm dishing out between 7 - 10 litres of water every 2 days.

I have a few idea's to improve the yeild because mine were....not great....mainly due to some of the simple stuff such as wrong germination technique, wrong soil mix, doing things to stress the plant, underfeeding...just to name a couple...I just didn't know. However forarmed with last grows experience there are a couple of things I will do differently this time which I am sure will lead to better plants and better yeilds.
