seedling nutrient deficiency or burn?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just trying to figure out if I have a nutrient deficiency or Nute burn with some seedlings.

Growing under led light. Potted in a generic bunnings type "seedling" mix. See pictures the ends of the leaves are yellowing. This happened in my last attempt with all my seedlings I ended up planting them outside and they flourished and didn't have the same problem.

Just got my pH and ppm meter today I had been just watering them with tap water and a little Terra Vega very weak solution.

I am thinking it might be Nute burn with the potting mix having too much in it to begin with?

Just flushed it with pH 6.5 and ppm 50 water from Brita filtered water to see if that helps. The flushed runoff came out ph6.0 and ppm 350+

Thoughts?

Welcome to ozstoners.

From the look of your medium it is way to wet and the seedling isent coping with it.

Let it dry out a bit just give a drink dont flood it.

At this point it wont need any nutes, the seedling mix will have all the seedling needs till it matures...

Update.

Since flushing the medium with the filtered water I have seen an improvement.

I will water less and see how that goes I generally water once the surface of the medium has dried out.

roots are a little further down, use weight as a sign they need water

you can come back from under watering quite well but you struggle to come

back from over watering, if you had to choose over or under watering , ill take under thanks

Your plants are over-watered.

you need more than the surface to dry out before watering your plant, at that size you should be watering maybe twice per week.

also at this point in their life don't worry about measuring the run off, worry about that once they are out of the seedling stage
