400w Son T Agro with Nanolux. Twinkling?

Recommended Posts

hey all,

ive got a brand new 400w nanolux ballast, was running it fine with a cheap lucagrow 400w hps, the bought a 400w Son t agro hps. it twinkles slightly. Its a replacement, because i thought the first one was dodgy aswel, but they both twinkle. I put the lucagrow back in and the twinkling stops.

Anyone know what my issue is or if there is an issue with the nanolux running the son t agro?

cheers

Lucagrow, Digimax, Gavita, GT Max, GT Proline...those are just off the top of my head. Its not just Nanolux, it's all Digi ballast. Some globes are just not tuned in for digital and give you a flicker and hence shortens the life of the globe. As far as running it flickering and safety, Technically Mag ballast flicker just a lot faster than your eye can see, hence the black lines when you try and photograph your grow. It's not unsafe, it just shortens the life. It has to do with hertz frequency as 240v runs at a 50 hz and magnetic ballast are dedicated 240v here in Australia, and digital ballast can run 110v - 240v and switch from 50hz to 60hz. So the globe has to match your hz factors or be able to run both frequencies
