How to flower in the dark

In another thread a grower was concerned that a camera flash might up set 'flowering'.

I thought I'd post this here.

There are two kinds of plants, long day and short day were, the length of the dark peroid is critical, If these plant experience a FLASH of RED during the dark cycle then they will flower or not flower depending on their make up.

Cannabis is a short day plant for flowering, that is if the day is long the plant wont flower.

The pix below show how this works; with a VERY exciting true to come out of this. Its all about the hormones.

If you take the branch of one of the plants inside a tent; extend that outside the tent into the rest of a DARKEND room then the plant in the dark room will start to flower.

Thinking I could maybe use this to force a branch on my outdoors to flower early to determine whether it's going to any good or not. Instead of having to wait 6 months til the end if the outdoor season.

 

Or even just to sex early as some of my outdoors seem to take up to 10 weeks to show pre-flowers.

awesome, post up how you go. I think there is some technique is splicing the branches, a bit like doing a graft. I also think that the out side plant needs to be in the dark, Im not sure how they pulled this off without, killing the plant slightly. maybe a week in the dark is long enough to get the hormones going?

It might be worth diging up the original experiment.
