Woman fined $450 for possessing "drug scissors"

A 52-YEAR-OLD woman has been fined $450 in Maryborough Magistrates Court for possessing a pair of scissors.

The court heard Webber had been found guilty of possessing cannabis about five months ago and since that time, Webber had ceased smoking the drug.

When police raided her home on April 5, they found no drugs but questioned her in regards to a pair of scissors in her home.

She told police she had previously used the scissors to chop cannabis but she "hadn't used them in a while".

The scissors were now used for gardening, the court was told.

Webber was charged with possessing the scissors and later missed an appointment to get her fingerprints taken, which resulted in the charge of contravening a requirement or direction of police.

While she accepted the police version of events, it was stressed that it had been five months since the scissors had been used for an offence.

this is your tax $ at work, how much do you think it cost the morons to to make this bust? $450 wouldn't cover it, cops should be out doing real work, but that's QLD for you.

Where is the justice in this! sounds weird. They must have wanted her bad; there is more to this story maybe... what did she do to piss them off THAT much!

She was lucky they only got her for scissors. If they found the bowl or the coffee table the bong used to sit on she would be doing time

I agree Canna, What else happened? There must be more to the story, sure that's what happened in court. But why did the cops go at her so hard to grab her for a pair of scissors? The coppers were obviously expecting to get her with more or the coppers came knocking and she abused them?? or refused to allow them access?? or obstructed them in some way?? Mind you she was ordered to turn up to a cop shop to have her prints taken and didn't so maybe that's why the judge slapped her, but still...

....There just has to be more to the story
