How to set up Carbon filter on outside of cabinet? Help please :)

Recommended Posts

Hey!

i just got my Phresh Filter and its fucking massive! lol

its not really going to fit inside so i need it on top of the cabinet and let the air vent out.

Questions...

1. Should the foam filter that slips over the outside be inside because i will be blowing air out? or am i making this up? haha

2. how should i set it all up.... i was thinking.....

Hyperfan > Acoustic Duct > Cool Tube > Acoustic Duct > Carbon Filter  (stickin out the side of cabinet)

OR

Cool Tube > Acoustic Duct > Hyperfan > Acoustic duct > Carbon Filter (stickin out the side of cabinet)

which would be more efficient as its my only 2 options ( i think)

Cheers

I know a grower who has the "huge" fan on the outside , with the air blowing through.

He has the cover from the outside on the inside so your not crazy (well not for this anyway  ;)  )

the filter was much bigger than he needed s he covered the top half with cling wrap so it only blew through bottom, he started getting an odour last year after 3 years, so he took cling wrap of top and put on bottom .....good as gold still.

When it stops working this time we will get a little bit of new charcoal and recondition the rest and repack it.

Will be doing the same with mine (put outside) this grow but I use LED's so don't need to dran heat so cant help with best place for light but common sense says "close to the fan to get max suction"

the hyper fan will have no worries pulling the air through the cooltube as well as the grow room you shouldnt need any extra fans. i have one in my flower room it alomost sucks me into the room haha. as for the carbon filter im far from an expert but to me the sock im not to sure what it even does sorry. but i would get a sliencer for them hyper fans unless noise is ok at your joint they are a little noisey.

Qwobbler you can have it set up with the {fan-cooltube-ducting then carbon filter } all it will do is put more pressure on you fan as carbon filters are made to be sucked through not blown through,An yes put the filter inside the carbon filter as this will stop dust an shit from blocking the inside of your carbon filter.

I had this same set up in my old grow room because the carbon filter would not fit inside the grow room like your's.

Just clean the inside of the filter every few months an that will keep every thing nice an clean.

I have the same make of carbon filter an it is over 10yrs old now an still works fine no bad smells.

Don't wrap any glad wrap around the outside of your carbon filter as this will restrickt  the flow of air coming out of the carbon filter.

All the best with your grow an set up.

I use to run

open end on cool tube>duct to outside tent>fan>carbon filter.

was pushing the air through/out of carbon filter.

worked well

now I run

carbon filter(inside tent)>duct>cool tube>duct to outside tent>fan>muffler(waste of money)>duct to outside room

also works well

imo both will work aswell as each other

depends on what space you have
