A hydroponic cannabis crop discovered south of Brisbane was so elaborate a power company was called to help police dismantle it.

Around 60 mature cannabis plants and 30 garbage bags of material were seized from the industrial premises on Carlyle Street, Slacks Creek, on Wednesday night.

Officers called in Energex crews to ensure the set-up could be safely dismantled.

A 32-year-old man from MacGregor has been charged with the possession and production of a dangerous drug.

He will appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court at the end of the month.

Police have urged anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area to contact authorities.
