Pistols purple! Luke?

Recommended Posts

On only some of the buds on my plant, there is a purple coloring on the hairs and even alittle on the smaller leaves. I hope this is not mold!

It seems to be right threw the hairs, as if there is a abondence of purple resin or ferts or somthing?????

Any ideas?, sorry i do not have access to a camera to show this...

If it's not just a purple strain it could very well be caused by the cold. Most of my outdoor girls have some purpling at the moment from the cool temperature, one has nothing but purple pistols.

Either way I don't think you have much to worry about, although I have read that buds which go purple from the cold are very harsh when smoked.

anthocyanin pigmentation....

just wanted to beat luke to that big word....

sometimes it genetically determined, and will happen in any temps, heapsa pink and purple haired strains out there, the pistils dry to boring brown/orange but usually... other times it happens in cold weather, it aint such a good thing, but it aint really that bad, plants aint liking it, and chlorophyll breaks down to show the anthocyanin which is purple/red, will stunt resin and yield a bit prolly.. but they right... aint mould...

Depends on if you're referring to the Stigmas, the little hairs that come out of the calyxes, or if you're referring to the calyx itself, which as WC has mentioned, can turn purple through anthrocyanin overproduction. :D

But if it's the hairs themselves, and only some of the stigmas are purple, but others are the normal white, then it's likely something diff... I've had plants with pink stigmas before, and they were pretty as heck, so I think it's just a recessive genetic trait that can come out in some... but that's only if you're just talking about the hairs.

Either way, it should be okay.
