CFL OR Fluoresecent?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

So.. after lots of reading I am thinking I am more confused lol

I have my tent setup, I have a Veg\Flower light setup sorted.

What I dont have figured out is CFL or Fluro light for kicking off the seeds.

So reading showed 80W CFL is a good start, but the holder of such a bulb and the wiring in the reading sorted read dodgy.

Fluro is ok - a smaller size however perhaps like this but not sure if it will cut it for 3 seeds to kick off? http://www.bunnings.com.au/light-fluoro-batten-crompton-1x60w-flex-plug-box-24407_p7076787

This is to just carry to seedling to the point of putting it under a HPS ;)

Ta in advance!

CFL and Fluro are the same thing.

Cfl is short for compact fluorescent light.

And fluorescent light are the long tubes...

Well yes... my bad - late night and not explained well lol

What I should have typed was;

If I go for CFL - whats the deal on the holder for one and using it in a tent. And which "K" rating suits?

If I got for a long tube... well as long as I can fit..... I guess just use the ratch ropes and mount \ lower it to the seeds.. but there are many tubes so not sure which to get.

too many pipes and late lol thats my excuse lol

ta for pointing that out to the nub :P

I use one of these,

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-125W-250W-Daylight-Photo-Energy-Saving-Bulb-Lamp-Lighting-Light-E27-5500K-CFL-/261573935622?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item3ce7058206

I got it for taking pics but turns out it good for starting seeds and veging till ready for the HID.

And they screw into a standard E27 light socket...

Well... Hang a sec. I spent hours in Bunning's yesterday and couldn't find any higher cfl then this...

http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/871829113821100/tornado-24w-100w-e27-cool-daylight/specifications

Which is putting out 1450 lums 5600k.... The other

http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/871829113815000/tornado-24w-100w-b22-warm-white

A 2700k putting out 1550 lums

Each say 24w then (100w) - so I figured two things...

Two little flurotubes would do about 3000 lums... These two together put that out.

And that the (100w) was what they are equiv to??

Have I got it all wrong?
