lighting

hey.. I have some lights.. their made for growing, I jsut set them up... yet I'm not sure they'll produce enough lighting for my soon to be white widow babies... heres a photo of them.. their 65 W each... oh.. btw. I'm a cheap Ba**trd when it comes to anything but seeds... can anyone help me withthis? oh their pretty hot too.. what do I do abotu that...

imo if yor are a cheap ass you are beter off going for bunch of compact fluros instead of just that one light, Compact fluro's are low wattage and let off next to zero heat so you can put them within a few cm from the plants

 

 

for flowering I really suggest you save up and get a HID light otherwise you will find your grow pretty much a waste of time because you will yeild horribly

 

You can get a seccond hand 400w light for 75 dollars or a new one for between 120- 170 , and I assure you that the investment is very worth it

I'd agree with Pure, you're much better off investing in a decent 400W, wether it's 2nd hand or new. CF's I tend to keep only for cloning, and keeping mums under. Your yeild would be pretty paltry without a decent HID, so if you can scrape the cash up, do it!!

I'm a pretty slack stoner myself But, there are only so many things in hydro you can take a short-cut with, and lights ain't one of them!!

As for heat, what sort of intake/exhaust do you have set-up? Also, what's the grow space dimensions?

hey thanks for the reply.. I think I might go with an hid after all, my friend's yeild prety much all died from pest, so hes giving up for a while, meantime I'll borrow his, and for ventalation, I have one pretty powerful exhaust fan, still pondering about what to fit on the inside to blow ont he plants... what power/seize would be the most efficient, for 4-5 plants? oh and the exhause blows out towards an open window.. second story so I'm not afraid for bugs.....

umm I'll reply once again, I forget the rest of the comments.. oh btw there was 3 of thoes cheap lights.. 2 were on.. thats why it was white....

oh and I have it in an old dresser in a back rom its about.. umm 45cm L by 1.35 cm W and 90 cm H... I'm going to take hte botom of the drawers off and leave the panels in fron, for illusion, jsut hhope no one opens it up:P... oh, my hosue if for sale, I ahve agents comming it at any time really, any tips onhow to make it less obvious? even if that is for stealth n stuf, thought I'd ask this in the same thread....

I'm not 100% sure what I'm getting, he is a lil odd, quite secretive, so It'll be a surprize:P haha... I smoke enough, when I have some... I can go through a 1/4oz in 2-3 days... sometimes more, sometimes less.. depends on the cashflow... n I know, dont smoke for a week n ull have evrything u need right? .. cant do that... peeps I get it from would make sure I dont get a crop, or I regret cropping in the first place, that is untill I get at least enough to hold me for a bit... thigns r violent ehre in canada:P.. who'd have thought ehh? ... but I'm gonna move so it'll be easyer to get rid of these peps mby then...

If your gonna be cheap then why not do the cheap thing and get you some free lights. Ive done this a couple of times, and it takes 2 people. Follow the street lights until you find a strip that go into the woods. Wear rubber boots and gloves bring an axe, robe, and screw driver. take and axe to the base wire that runs up the pole to the street light. Swing fast and let go. Climb up the post and gank you a 1000 wat HPS bulb. and there you go cheap and easy ::
