Lighting

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

thinking of setting up a little number in my cupboard at home and dont have any cash to buy a proper setup and was wondering if you guys saw any merit in using normal household lamps, like a desk lamp or bed lamp in there on a timer??

Thanks for your help

have a good weekend,

Chingy

Not a good idea mate, unless you use compact flouros in the lamp/s........A waste of time really even with cf's, they're good for clones and mums, but if I were you, I'd scrape as much cash together as I could and hunt down a decent secondhand HID, 400w or 600w.........you won't get anywhere near the results of a HID using flouros, and using normal light globes or hallogen globes is totally pointless. You'll get a nice skinny, stretchy plant that will topple, if it doesn't die from the lack of proper, usable light.

The quokka is a good place to start, as well as e-bay  Cashies are good too, just make sure your ballast is the voltage they have it advertised as................

$85 for a decent 400w HPS kit from this place.. I've bought one, came with nice JB Ballast to suit 430w Son-t and Sunmaster lamp in good condition. They are in QLD, but only cost me $100 with postage.. can't go wrong

Oh, and nothing grows like HID lighting! It's the best, especially for a closet grow.
