Cakes & Cookies

Recommended Posts

A while ago, my friend & I decided to experiment with cooking. I dont smoke pot, never have, probably never will. But we wanted to see if we could get anything out of making a cake.

Im not sure how much pot was in it, i think it was about 3 tablespoons or so. Enough to cover the bottom of a breakfast bowl. We added it the cake mix and stirred it in. Anyway, we baked up this cake and had 2 large pieces each, with about an hour gap inbetween each piece.

I felt like it hadnt had any affect on me for the next few hours, we decided to go for a drive up the road to Maccas for a few happy meals. We bought a whole bunch of food but I suddenly felt really tired. So tired that I couldnt finish my food. Then I got dizzy and felt as if I was going to be sick. So we got back into the car and went home. As soon as I got home I jumped onto bed and fell straight asleep. I wasnt too keen on cooking after that experience.

A few months down the track, my mate says we should try to make cookies this time instead of cake, might "work better". I have no idea what we were trying to achieve out of it. We bought a box of cookie stuff to make, and my friend brought along some "skunk" or something. I dont know, he was saying it's really good, I have no idea about anything relating to all this.

Once again we cooked up our cookies, we added a little less than last time, probably 2 tablespoons . Did the same thing, cut it up and added it to the mix. When they were ready, they smelled strong. We let them cool then i had half a cookie every half hour, for 2 cookies. My mouth felt really dry after a while. I felt sleepy. We watched a movie 3 times because we kept falling asleep. I had a headache for the rest of the day and a tummy ache for the rest of the week.

We had 7 cookies each in total. I saved mine and just eat them when Im hungry as I find they have no effect on me (apart from the week-long stomache aches).

What I wanted to know was does this sound normal for what we did, what are the effects when you cook properly, how do you achieve them, etc. Just any general information/ input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps,

Hey XTiNA, great story there.

The best way to make up cannabis for ingestion is to make a "canna-butter", which involves simmering large amounts of leaf, or even trim and bud if you're that brave, in a large saucepan of water with a chunk of butter. This is simmered for a looooong time, and as the leaf and butter is simmering in water, the oils, or resins which are in the pot which is what makes you "stoned" will infuse into the fat of the butter.

MJ resin is fat soluble, meaning it won't dissolve in water, only into oils and fats. So you can take advantage of this and make canna-butter, which can then be added is small amounts to the normal butter portion of just about any recipie.

There should be a couple of recipies about canna-butter in here somewhere, if you need any help with specifics I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

But yeah, great story, I hope we can help to make your canna-cooking expert.

p.s. the bookshop here has some canna-cooking books too, ;) You may want to check it out. :D Book List...

Im not that into it. Not my thang. Plus, didnt really have the time, knowledge or patience to do it properly.

PS - I have no idea what the difference is between "trim, leaf, and bud". Im a n00b.

Thanks for the help, although I have no intention of persuing it further. Just wanted some input.
