Large gaps between branches

Hi can some one please give me an indication of why my plants are always tall with large gaps between branches.

Does this mean less yield?

most likely strain related - Sativa's are lankier than Indica's

Sativa's (when compared to Indica's) have a larger distance (gaps) between nodes (the place leaves grow from)

 

if your plant is Sativa Dominant (sounds like it is) or even 25% sativa there is a chance for that gap 

 

Less Yield?

No, it's just how your plant is

 

 

could also be because your plants are stretching for their source of light

I thought stretching also.

They only get direct sun from 9am to 3pm

I don't think stretching bro mine is about the same sun wise and the gaps between branches are not huge..

I'd go with stretching for light...I am no expert on this but I have seen how quickly and how far they will stretch to get into sunlight.

Temperature differences between light and dark periods will also cause different internode distance. More than 10 degrees difference will cause larger spacing, less than 5 degrees will keep the plant compact.
