Before i request opinions im sure the recent damage done to the root system may be a cause of dead foliage, however the problem started prior, and has started affecting brand new growth that is only one day old. So if any of the leaves display traits of deficency i would love your input. I have looked online and it seems the same symptoms equal the same deffeciency, yellowing, brown spots etc, so while i have been doing my research and have made a GUESS of what i think is the issue, no internet articles can be better than true experience from the community :)

Indoor/Outdoor:                                   Indoor
Growing Medium:                                 Pebbles
Watering/Feeding Frequency:             50mls daily
Nutrient Strength (PPM/EC):               112-129
PH Levels:                                            5.5
Temperature/Humidity Levels:         unknown, although recently had 40 degree day
Air Flow/Fans etc.:                           exhaust fan, and cooling fan
Lighting Type:                                  LED & CFL during night, out in sun during the day
Total Wattage:                                  1150W total
Growth Stage:                                   Veg
Plants Age:                                        5 weeks
Cannabis Strain:                               Purple Power, White Rhino, Crystal, Ice, New York City Deisel.

For the 1st one im unsure, its slightly faded small silvery patches (i took a photo of the plant leaf itself and in the photos you cant see any issues because of lighting but its just faded looking patches), i assumed it to be some kind of mite, but after looking through a microscope at 100x mag, i cant see any moving insects of any kind, just spotted silvery patches and dark dots

Unknown - brown spots only seen at edges - tips dying and curling up - although on some serated edges you can see it skips.

Nutrient Burn, lots of burn tips, brown remains at the tips which curl up

These Leaves died after we had a 40 degree day, perhaps root damage combined with excess heat? - didnt have time to become patchy, just dried and died.

root damage (as these leaves didnt last long after pot transfer) you can see the little whitish patchy spots aswell.

Brown spotted leaves with minimum yellowing of surrounds, no gold tones, just brown

IMG_6641.JPG

Yellowing leaf which eventually leads to brown spots - unlike above leaf started yellowing first, with edges slightly curling upwards

Yellowing of leaf, with mix of nutrient burn

Pebbles seem like a very unforgiving medium. Possible reason for nute burns and heat stress due to bad water retention.

lol your pissin with us.

No not pissin with ya, im just a complete idiot to growing  ... ANYTHING for that matter. I once had a pet plant as a kid, even that didnt last long... But i make up for being dumb by being a quick learner lol.

I supose it could be a combination of root damage aswell as heat issues, ill be keeping them inside in the air con on th next 40 degree day. Iv just done a flush with ph 5.5 water, but i think i did a few things wrong with my first grow, which im learning about rapidly lol. I was under the impression pebbles were rather forgiving, but i did notice they retain a fair bit of heat, and being in WA it gets rather warm, so perhaps not the best choice for newbie grower. Also i need to get the hang of the EC meter... i just noticed it reads 259 in plain pure water? then i added nutrients and it read 127.... then the next time i use it, the water measures 150 pure, then i add only a drop (eyedropper) of nutrients to 500ml of water and it reads 400+, i add more water to dilute it further, and its then reads 800+... WTF? possibly due to being cheap chinese crap, or is that how they work?

Plus theirs these jumping spiders, im terrified of spiders, but managed to be brave and killed 3 of them, but theirs still more. I dont think they are spider mites as they look to big according to google images, but they jump a fair distance, would this contribute to sick plants, or could these spiders be eating mites etc? Iv never heard of a leaf eating spider.

Problem is your medium you can't use clayballs in summer to hard to control the temp of the root zone you are better off goin to coco think I've said it before. I grow using clay balls in winter indoors even then after winter I do the one grow again indoors wich I was putting lots off frozen water bottles in Rez to keep roots at a decent temp. Those plants are just goin to roast in our weather the sooner you go buy coco and coco nutes the better chance you have of saving them good luck with them. Edited by Stix87

Basically wat he said

You can probably continue using the nutes you already have,

then stop reading all the hi tech crap on the net..... plant some seeds water em every second day till established root system, then water/feed once a day

started ur nutes at .8 EC and increase to about 1.2 through veg 3-4 weeks flip take nutes up to about 1.4 max  maybe some pk about week 5-6 of flower and leave the poor bloody things alone to do their thing.

From wat i have read in ur posts and i have read a few of them you seem to be making growing weed seem like mission impossible.

Yes your right I think the first one does look like some kind of insect damage and it's most likely what the spider is feeding on.

That "jumping" spider wont bother the plants so unless they start build big webs on your plants leave them as pest control.

I grow in clay "pebbles" and don't have any problems but my system is inside and recirculating so get a little more water than your giving yours.

There is (and I will try and word this politely) a bit of a distrust of anything that is not traditional on this forum. eg. LED's, Clay Pebbles, recirculating  etc.

don't get me wrong I agree with some reasoning behind this.

1. It works

2. It's simple

3. Everyone else does it that way

But I think your a bit like me, "just cause every body else does it don't make it the best way"

I like to learn so I study stuff to death and try new things. I only grow for myself so if something doesn't work I try something else, no great loss.

So I say to you

Your plants look good considering what they have been through, stems and branches looking good and new growth showing.

The teething problems you've had  WE ALL had at some stage.

Your doing great. Continue and give us a great flower show to quell the nay-Sayers

Im still keen to use the canna coco, as its still sitting in the garage lol, but how do you stop it from always falling out the bottom of the pot. Even through flyscreen barrier it seems to seep through the pot draining holes. Thats the only reason i wasnt keen on using it, but as iv learnt from the ozstoner community the pebbles hold to much heat, aswell as not providing enough of a buffer for the roots, so if Nutrients is slightly to strong, nutrient burn is evident.

Hey i remeber you saying you werent using the LED lights for growth, you were going to give them a try for flowering... I reckon thats the master plan for my next grow aswell, as soon as i put the plants under more LED light than the CFL it started showing fuzzy fangs/gender, despite being so small and to early, whether this is due to what iv put them through, or due to the sudden change in lighting im unsure, but i i think the LED have stimulated the bloom before it should of. so my next grow will be CFL, then LED for flowering.

Thanks Spider_B, despite my failure it was still fun to learn. Its funny because my nanna grows, aswell as father - And they have been growing for 10+ years, both use different methods, different lights, different nutes, different medium with successful results... but i tell ya, experienced growers dont like change, so anything out of the ordinary is a no-no, but i guess if you have a successful system going, why change it?

I showed my nanna all the nutrients iv got, the EC meter, LED lights etc, and she just looked at me as if to say....What the hell is all this? lol. I take advice from others on board but i like to have a bit of hope that sometimes there could be a way to make these things work.

Just received My CFL lamps so now i have 6, going to connect adapters so i can use just CFL this time around.

I was a little eager and excited and jumped the gun without been prepared, but iv learnt lots along the way, especially regarding the elements to potting as it seems to be the area I failed – as well as being impatient lol. But also being under the assumption that hand feeding is easy (my thoughts at 1st were, geez how hard can it be to water a plant lol, i was very wrong) but when you have to mix solution each day (in 500ml bottles) adjusting PH, EC and when it was to strong I would tip some out to dilute it more, so there was a lot of wastage. Plus pebbles dry out quickly (and hold heat) so when hand feeding the plants they dont benefit much from 2 big feeds each day, they would be best with smaller, more consistent feeds so they dont go over-watered, under-watered, over-watered, under-watered etc.

I still have my butchered plants, even though they are only 15-20cm and already showing gender, its clear I screwed them up, but ill keep em regardless while I start my next lot. This time I plan on being prepared and patient and using all the lessons iv learnt over the last few weeks.

I have come up with this design setup, but being unfamiliar with how pumps etc work, id love to get some input from members if something isn’t going to work according to plan, or if iv missed something. Just to clear the reason I have the pot bag inside the bucket base is so I can move the plants outside individually, without having to move the whole setup.

I have a few questions for anyone experienced with irrigation and possibly plumbing etc

*The pump I would like connected to the irrigation pipe tube which will drip feed the plants. A concern I have is since the tubing is rather thin (standard sprinkler type tube) – will the pump be pushing to much nutrient into the tubing causing excess pressure, especially if I just want to drip feed, I obviously wont need such a large flow of nutrients going to the tubing, is there a way I can get around this?

*When connecting PVC piping to buckets, I will require some kind of waterseal connector. I think in motors they are called rubber gaskets (I may be wrong) but I kind of need a rubber seal – im guessing this is a plumbing item? Either way do these rubber type seals have a name so I know what im after?

* When you only have one power point to work with, is their a way i can protect from electric faults/fires? will surge protecting power boards be enough saftey?

Also regarding the power timer, i see the cheaper ones are a wheel spinner with 24hr listed, is it even possible to set a timer like this to auto shut on, and auto shut off numerous times throughout the day, or do i need a digital timer... and can digital power outlets turn on aswell as off, or am i looking for something different?
