placing fluros under the plants

Recommended Posts

Have placed 4 4ft fluros underneath facing upwards , in an attempt to fill the bottom out a bit more , I have never tried this before , its only been a couple of weeks but the bottom is looking good with nice growth and no dying of in the middle , the top of the grow is very dense so there is very little light penetration , I dont know but so far this looks like it is worth doing , I dont think you need much light down below if you got plenty up top , even in full sun in the middle of a plant the light is only about fluro brightness , the fluros just seem to keep the bottom of the plant nice and healthy .

Have any of you guys done this and if so how did work for you ?

Thanks Rod

I have 6 compact fluro's and light cords ready to go in when my ladies get bigger to do the same thing that your thinking,

have you already trained the plant in some way ? training them will also add to the light that gets through in you have not already done it

Yes mate they have been trained , grew them straight up for 4wks , tipped them and turned them over sideways , layed out kinda like spokes in a wagon wheel , then kept the pre flower growth spurt tied flat while they continued to run ,and that filled any spaces , then just let em go , last time I cut everthing of that was shaded down low that you knew was gonna be fluff , it worked good and they really yielded , this time Im trying the fluros and not cut them

Yeah, no doubt more light from more directions will help, but be careful, you can end up using a heck of a lot of wires and have a small electrical disaster if you were to have water drip onto them.

But it's sound, more light equals more buds/bigger/healthier plants. Let us know how she comes out.

I've been thinking about supplimenting my GR with some compacts on the edges of the canopy to assist in evening out the lighting in there, just never getting round to it. Couple of 48w fluoros there would likely to a world of difference. ;)

Also, the different light spectrums would help your plants grow too? Ill be using a hps for veg for now, and i have some 48w cf's here ill whack in around the plants when im not using them for clones.. surely they will help alot more taking into account they are of a different light spectrum.
