a little leaf help

Recommended Posts

what ya think it is guys a couple of the plants have started developing this on the leafs sorry for the drappy shots but it looks literaly like dirt on the leaves and the ones affected I have already flushed em and if it's a nutrient deficiency or whatever it should be fine and fixed soon I just need to know that it isn't any sort of bug ;)

Owe dear I hadn't checked soil ph in this grow yet as I had my medium tester taken away I went and got one of the things in the below pic though it is a moisture ph and light tester for mediums and soil.

It told me that my soil is up around 6.8 which is not what i expected to see at all as my nutes are always around 5.5 . whats the best and fasted way to fix the issue should I flush them all again in ph adjusted water ?

If you're using coco, you could flush with a ph adjusted water of around 5, that should set it substantially lower if you flush it well. You could also consider using additives like sulphur itself to the soil, but if it's coco I'd just set it at 5.5-6 by flushing several times with water of that rate.

I used to have one of those ph meters too, they were crap. For hydro systems you can test far more accurately with a liquid ph tester, which is too cheap at 5-10 bucks at most hydro shops. You can also test runoff with this. For direct testing of soil you'd probably need a soil kit, which may be a bit more, but will accurately tell you the ph of the mix.

Hope that helps.

Ok I figured out how I got this problem it was cause I wasn't running off enough waste because it was storing up in the bottom of the pots I fixed this fine buy repotting the plants firstly with some more perlite and also with 2 inches of clayballs at the bottom so no water is gonna store up and that seemed to work great to fix the water storing up problem

but I stil have plant problems and my girls are looking quite sick the nute deficiency is making me loose leaves daily ;( what can I do to get the ph of the medium to drop down straight away ? I want to avoid useing a week long process I already flushed them last night but they have lost even more leaves over night than other days ( I take it it's from the stress of both repotting and flushing )

could even be your light cycle what are u running, id suggest 18/6 when plants take on a few to many yellow leaves, works for me, but i run 18/6 anways the only time i ever had probs with alot of yellowing or weirdness was at 24/0 im a believer of plants need atlest 6 hours rest to thrive or grow well deffeicency free' any less then 6 i think its stresses the plant way to much (i think), its like a human getting 3 hours sleep instead of 8 everynight, it builds up and makes u more tired and before long you gotta sleep more, my 2 cents
