Oz_Cleric2
Hi all, I have a question if I may? I have just started the final 2 weeks of flower and 3 days into flush we are growing new white hairs. Is this normal? Flood and drain in clay balls, 3 x 300 watt led panels. Fresh PH'd water is returning at about 1/4 strength right now and drops about half the reading each new flush. Thanks in advance OzCleric Edited December 16, 2014 by Oz_Cleric2
T.WilyRR.
Would depend on your strain for the most part. Not untypical of sativa strains. Imho products like final flush are nothing but gimmicks designed to make you poorer. Good luck with your harvest
Minzone
Have seen this happen , From what I have read it could be the plants last ditch attempt to get some pollen. Other say possibly the flush may have cleared some residue nutrients blocking up the plants uptake and now is able to flourish again since it's been flushed. I think the first makes more sense. Either way use some magnification to check the trichomes that way you can be guarenteed it's harvest time.

spider_b
To me it sounds like your plant is going into the second browning stagethere is a member here who like to leave his buds until the third browning............. personally i never had the patience or supply to go this route but he swears by it and leaves his plants usually till about 12 weeks There was a thread here about this................sorry i cannt find it to link it for you
Oz_Cleric2
Thanks they are in week 8 and just water for flush. They are bag seed from a FOAF so strain unknown, smelling a bit pine/lemon in there. I have never heard of second browning, would prefer they finish first time before starting second! Matanuska Thunder
I stand by my "they are not quite ready" statement, may be a little early for harvest (tho I prefer an early harvested canna).Photos always help...
merl1n
...there is a member here who like to leave his buds until the third browning............. personally i never had the patience or supply to go this route but he swears by it and leaves his plants usually till about 12 weeks...The member SB speaks of is me. To answer your question Yes this is normal. But I would like to know how many weeks of 12/12 are you into now. Around 8wks is the first browning, around 10wks is the end of the 2nd browning and 12 the end of the 3rd. Now these timings are dependant on nute availability and if, as you state, you've started your flush, these timings will be altered as it takes longer for these processes when nutes are no longer available. But if you have started your final flush, DO NOT be reintroducing nutes as it can take a couple of weeks for the plant to reabsorb the nutes to a beneficial level. I do not start my final flush until the hairs have browned off 3 times, so I flush at 12wks then harvest around 13wks. It is a natural cycle of the plant. The plant is trying to attract pollen, when none is available the white hairs die off and the plant waits a couple of weeks and tries again and again. In fact the reason I leave them for the 3rd browning is the boost in both flavour and effect. It is a richer flavour and a heavier, more narcotic stone. And IMO well worth the wait (if you have the patience and supply SB ), personally I will never do another 8wk harvest again considering the improvement in the smoke. So, in short, it is nothing to be stressing about. Merl1n Edited December 16, 2014 by merl1n
