Teen pot epidemic out of control

Recommended Posts

I like this quote,

"The majority of the youths had committed minor offences while under the influence of marijuana – including using obscene language, urinating in a public place or acts of vandalism"

It's so good to have a Historic record of drug news stories as to look back upon and see how drug trends and views have changed for the worse and our current drug policies simply don't work.

Plus those kids effected is so laughable compared to reports of 100,00 kids teens parents in one or two rural towns using ice and physically hurting themselves and others while high

This is taken from a article https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/topic/75192-the-secret-of-world-wide-drug-prohibition/

For many decades, the top editors in the news media have clearly recognized, as an economic fact of their business, that a scary front page drug story will increase sales of magazines and newspapers — especially when it is about a potential drug epidemic threatening to destroy middle-class teenagers, families and neighborhoods. Editors know that a scary story about a new, tempting, addicting drug attracts more TV viewers and radio listeners than most other kinds of news stories, including non-scary drug stories. In short, whatever their personal values, publishers, editors and journalists give prominent space to frightening drug articles because they know the stories attract customers.

When one demon drug loses its ability to scare people, then politicians, the media, and drug enforcement agencies shift to another. At this moment (the spring and summer of 2001), they are focusing on prescription narcotics, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. Each demon drug comes with its own distinctive story about the ruin it causes including brain damage, psychological destruction, moral collapse, and sometimes death. The many anti-drug news stories and public education campaigns implicitly (and sometimes explicitly) suggest that nearly all social problems can be reduced at least somewhat by attacking "drugs." And to a remarkable extent, pro-drug war politicians in the U.S. have an easier time getting elected, and expensive anti-drug programs pass without much debate. In the U.S., during economic good times and bad, funding grows for "anti-drug" courts, police, prisons, and military operations, while schools, housing, medical care, and other social services are under-funded or cut back.

So by the looks of it the Australian Government has moved onto ICE as the epidemic to continue profiteering from the war on drugs... AS they will be getting taxes from medical cannabis..

Many of his young clients were "drug drunk" in court, unable to talk to their lawyers because of prolonged marijuana use.

"Like any drug that's overused, marijuana has a significant effect, particularly on a young person's mind,"

"We often see kids with cannabis intoxication. It's like they're drunk. They're zonked out."

This mute point grinds the hell out of my gears.

Im preaching to the choir here, but for the rest of the uneducated, anti cannabis people out there... listen up.

The reason that cannabis users in this country have shown signs of "schizophrenia" and "drug induced psychosis" is not because of "super strains" or "hydro", it is because of education and regulation of cannabis in this country.

Cannabis Sativa produces resin. Part of that resin are little mushroom shaped glands called trichomes. In the trichomes is the magic little place where THC is created. There is very little to no THC in the plant material itself. It is all on the outside like icing on a cake.

Now some asshole (another story) some time in the late 90's discovered that they could use Palcobutrazol and Chlormequat Chloride to increase harvest weight in cannabis.

For a better understanding of these chemicals, read the link.

http://www.marijuanagrowershq.com/plant-growth-regulators-poison-marijuana/

Now apart from potential carcinogenics of using these products, they severely inhibit resin production in cannabis.

This cannabis (due to poor education of users) is produced by 95% of commercial growers across Australia.

It is that rock hard bud you see everywhere with no sparkle whatsoever.

Now if a bud has no sparkle or resin due to use of these products, then quite simply, you cannot be getting "high" on THC. There is none.

What you are getting "high" on is simply chemicals.

I don't condone it or remotely recommend it, but you may as well spray dry lavender with fly spray and smoke this as the effect would be almost identical.

My point is, if you smoked the equivalent of fly spray for 2 years every day, Im fairly sure that psychosis would be imminent.

The reason they get away with this is because users don't educate themselves about what they put in their mouth.

They have never once looked at a picture in High Times and wondered "Why doesn't my bud look like that?"

The reason these chemicals are still being sold and people are still smoking "PGR" junk, is because it is impossible to regulate an industry that does not legally exist in this country.

We are the only country in the world where growers can get away with using these chemicals on cannabis.

The Media and Anti Cannabis mobs have never, ever put this valid point forward because it does not suit their prerogatives

This is the single, only reason that people become "fucked up" from cannabis use..

Rose.

hmmmm, this could explain my behavior over the years, started out on weed still on weed 50 years later.

It is funny like that isn't it ^^

This why somebody can smoke cleanly grown cannabis for 50 years and still be perfectly normal, yet smoke "PGR" rubbish for 2 years and blow a mental fuse...

I was told when I was younger to look at old hippies... "See what Marijuana does, he is more "far out man" than a shooting star. This is long term Marijuana use"

Then as I got older and educated I realized that the old hippie was not "far out" from Marijuana, it was because in the 60's, he took more LSD and Mushrooms than any "self explorer" probably should have.

Once again, prerogatives and truth sometimes conflict ;)
