Ventilation Question

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My plants have stretched 300% so I had to move them out of the wardrobe and into the middle of the room . Would ventilation be required if the plants were in the middle of a room with an open window and an oscillating fan blowing 24/7 ?

Apart from the stretch the plants are looking excellent, only 5 more weeks to go B)

Cheers

I started out in an open a big room with with a window open and two ocolating fans and I had no ventilation or over heating issues . BUT I did see the following issues

a ) allot of the light is wasted if you don't build a pnada frame around it

B) Odour Controll is gonna be a bigger issue, you will eighter need a huge fan that can clean out the whole room through a carbon filter or you will need to resort to ozone\

If you need them in an open area put them in a corner so you can atleast cut down on the lost light

Thoughs where the problems I saw with using an open room but with that said I think I'm gonna have to do it again myself come flowering time  , my cubourd will get awful cramped with 6 lady's in there

so I have to finish my BIG double wardrobe or grow half in my open room which I think I have figured out how to enclose a little ;)

well in my case it was heat, they didnt die they just stopped growing and looked sick so i made a giant cardboard grow box ::blink:: and they were fine after that....

i think its a wasteful way to grow like pure says, alot of light is wasted... maybe try building some sort of frame around it?

you shouldn't have any problems as long as you keep your temps under 30 degrees. Do a search for posts by sols on this site and you might find pics of some very impressive plants just grown in an open room with a light hanging off a curtain rail.

As others have said you will make more efficient use of your light if it is in an enclosed area but sitting it in a room will work well enough if that is your only option.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I semi-enclosed the area with mylar and have saved a lot of light. The plants look much happier out of the wardrobe and temps are around 27 degrees. Bud sites are starting to appear everywhere, I'm stoked

Cheers

sure ya already figured it out but your window is gonna need to be 100% light sealed as it sticks out like dogs balls to any passers buy personaly I used a sheet of panda from one side to the other behind the curtains that ensures zero light is viewable from outside, I also placed the plants in a corner of the room so I could line the walls with panda to minimise my light wastage at least from 2 sides,

the main reason I changed was not the light wasteage but the dificulty to controll the odour if you don't have this issue I think you will do fine
