Advice on low THC strain for Epilepsy treatment tincture

Recommended Posts

can't suggest a singular strain, rather you need to look for a strain (strains) with high CBD, that is the compound that appears to be helping with epilepsy

CBD = cannabidiol

Google "high CBD cannabis strains" as a starting point

Ensure you order your seeds safely - do a search for ordering seeds - if you are in QLD there is specific information for ordering to there

it's not quite as straight forward as you may think

You can use high THC strains also.. Raw cannabis only has THC-Acid, however once exposed to heat it converts to Delta 9 THC, the latter being psychoactive, this process is called decarboxylation.

I'm pretty sure mulloways (Tony Bowers) medicine is made this way, through alcohol extraction.

I have also heard of people using glycerine to extract without heat.. Good luck Damien..

Thanks for the replies.

I'm more than prepared to make this stuff myself, just don't want to go out and find the first seed I can then send her to pre school stoned:)

So extracting without heat is the method to minimise the THC content? Forgive my ignorance, I'm learning as I go here.

Re ordering seeds, I have found a site in Australia with heaps of options...really don't know where to start. The CBD crew ones might be worth a try...

Thanks

There is some conjecture on this subject, so you should make sure you are fully informed before giving the tincture to a patient, particularly one that goes to pre-school. I have anecdotal experience with alcohol extraction as a product that does get you stoned. I believe alcohol will also knock a C molecule off the chain, producing THC. In addition, there are many people who say they have received a big hit from dropping hash oil that has been extracted by the traditional methods. So make sure you know before you go giving it to a kid!

What I believe Tony Bower has said, is that while cannabis is illegal, THC, THC-A, CBD, CBN ect is not illegal. Therefore his product is not illegal.

Thanks for the replies.

Do you have a link to that site. There have been several sites pop up lately, most of which get the alarm bells ringing. it is always good to go with a company that has a reputation for quality. Further, given that it is illegal to test cannabis in Australia, I would be wary of any claims being made in regards to THC:CBD ratio. While in other countries, these products are tested frequently, therefore, their product is far more robust than anything that could be produced in Australia at the moment.

Did anyone mention thin layer chromatography test kits??  While these are not as accurate as a NATA approved laboratory, i would also suggest testing the THC and CBD content using one of the home test kits prior to medicating a young child, as this is all that is available at this time.

Good luck with your search, I really hope you get the desired outcome.
