AAAARRGH! THEYRE HERMIES!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Gave the flowering girls and their vegging associates a good feed this morn. Killed one gnat that was walking around - didnt try to fly away, hopefully it was sick! One gnat that seemed to be half larvae (the hind end) while the front end appeared to adult under the 6x magnifier was flushed out of one of the flowering girls.

Im starting to think that I won the battle, just gotta continue and try to win the war on the little buggers.

The only drawback is that my place stinks of napthalene, but I guess its a small price to pay as long as the gnats dont regroup for another attack!!

Hopefully in a week or two I might be able to take the napthalene out of the cupboard and store it in an airtight container waiting for the next time. B)

Thanks Tom. Should I start flushing as the trichromes are starting to turn? Or how do I time the flushing with optimum potency of the trichromes?

Also on average lately I have only seen 1 fungus gnat per day since I put the mothballs in. No more coming out of the pots when I water. So I reckon theyre reasonably effective. Thinking Ill take them out of the cupboard for the last week or so, probably at the same time as flushing. B)

Well I had to eliminate the stronger / larger of the two plants as it showed LOTS of male flowers at week 6. Unfortunately since I didnt have an extra area I couldnt flush it properly. So it was killed middle week 6 ;)

I took 4 ounces wet, which went down to just over 1.25 ounces when dry.

Made some great brownies. I have so many I had to freeze some!!!!! :P

Unfortunately I dont have a pocket microscope as yet, so I cant check the trichromes properly. I started the flush on the remaining plant on monday, as the hairs were about 50/50 brown but some new ones were on the tops of the colas.

I also trimmed the fan leaves to speed up the flushing process.

Im planning on giving her the chop probably about friday. That would be a week & a half of flushing. Or should I flush longer? ;)

Also the leaves that are on the buds are turning yellow on the tips as they use the nitrogen stored in the plant, BUT the rest of the leaf is going purply brown. :D

Any ideas guys??? ;)

la femme is the biggest ripoff known to man, you've been had.. sorry to say.

active ingredient NAA, google it..

the purpling is anthocyanin showing through due to cold weather + lack of nutrients destroying the chlorophyll, its not a bad thing. dont worry bout it. means flushing is working :D

skcoc sesroh skcus mot.

Info from here.

11. Feminising products

Female products come in two varieties

Male supressants such as la femme and feminiser, used to reduce the chances of a male as a seedling is raised

Hermaphrodite treatments such as Budwise, which make male flowers shrivel up and drop off.

Female hormone sprays like 'Bud Wise' can make Hermaphrodites (both sexes) keep only their female flowers and reject their male flowers, which shrivel up and disappear. There are femising products such as 'Feminiser', 'la femme', and others for increasing female-ness. These are sprayed during growth, before flowers appear. Neither of these treatments affect the genetics, and so a cutting/clone from these plants will be hermaphrodites as well, and require a Budwise treatment every time.

If a 100% male plant appears, save its pollen for crossing with good female plants. There is no way of changing a male into a female.

Maleness in flowers are more prone to occur when a plant is stressed, or poor ventilation results in plants needing to pollinate themselves.

your using information from a hydroponic shop to discredit my claim a product is a ripoff?? lol

Male supressants such as la femme and feminiser, used to reduce the chances of a male as a seedling is raised

think about that for a minute??? the same company that makes "la femme" also make a product called sensa soak, in which you soak your seeds before germination to supposedbly have a higher rate of male seeds than you would without it...its a scam made to suck in people who have heard of "feminised" seeds but dont understand what it is.

budwiser sounds entirely possible for treating hermaphrodites, but residues could be a worry to your health, best thing to do is always start again. and try not using la femme this time, the results always seem to be hermies for people.

probly a fuckin government plan to wipe out the sinse.....
