bushy plants

Recommended Posts

There are two basic strains that we are interested in, Indica and Sativa, other strains are a result of breeding between the two, there is a bit more to it but we will skip that and stick to the basics. Pure Indica gives more of a veg-out (couch-lock) type of stone that makes you just want to sit there and let your thoughts drift or for bed-time bongs whereas a Pure Sativa has more of an "up and go" high and is great if you have a heap of boring jobs to do like dishes, lawns, etc. Strains between the two can give influences of both depending on the "dominance" of either base strain (Sativa or Indica), dominance meaning which base strain has the highest percentage.

SATIVA

Cannabis sativa , is a tall plant, generally between 8 and 12 feet.

The leaves have long thin fingers and are light green. The more

equatorial varieties have more yellow pigments to protect the plant

from intense light. Sativa buds are long and thin and turn red as

they mature in a warm environment. In cooler environments the

buds may be slightly purple. Sativa plants smell sweet and fruity

and the smoke is generally quite mild. It is a source of fiber for rope

and other products and it contains THC which gives smokers the

psychic effects they seek. The leaves of this plant are smoked but

the most highly prized part of the plant is the top. Large long

bud-leaves, buds are also large and long with lots of resin. A sweet

licorice or anise flavor. "Up" high similar to Thai. High yields.

Well suited for out crossing with late bloomers to produce earlier

flowering. Also does very well under artificial light.

INDICA ::

Cannabis indica, is plentiful in the Mideast, India, and Central Asia

especially Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Pakistan. It is a short plant,

generally between 3 and 6 feet, and its leaves have short broad fingers.

The leaves are generally dark green sometimes tinged with purple.

As they near maturity, the leaves may become significantly more purple.

It is a strong smelling plant with a "stinky" or "skunky" smell. The

smoke of indicas is generally thick and more prone to cause coughing

when inhaled. Indicas are the traditional source of hashish. Plants have

very broad leaves, and heavy buds with lots of resin. Rather high

flower/leaf ratio with average yields. Some plants turn purple at

harvest time. Aroma and flavor are heavy, almost medicinal. Very

strong, physical, practically narcotic high.
