Recommended Posts

A man who claimed he was growing cannabis in his Mildura home for medicinal purposes has had his jail term reduced by 10 months.

How can he have 10 months reduced when he was sentenced in December last year for 18 months prison 6 months suspension, then read on to say his conviction was appealed because judges failed to realise he forfeited his house due to the conviction, then reduced his sentence to only 8 months.

From December to now is 8 months sentenced to another 8 months gives a total of 16 months 2 less then original sentence.

This reporter has totally twisted what's actually the reason for his sentence reduction, IMO has nothing to do with being medicinal, more plausible it's time to review this prisoners release date, being a non violent offence and being trouble free inside gets his sentence reduced and reviewed again at later date.

End of report says "The sentence we have fixed should not be regarded as indicative of the type of sentence that will normally be imposed for offending that involves the cultivation of this quantity of cannabis."

I thought that causes a precedence and any similar conviction with a good lawyer would bring that up as an example to go by.

But reading that above suggest exact opposite.
