Do seedbanks ever give "dud" seeds?

Suck man, I hate waiting for bean and they never turn up or there crappy. I find most of the company seed banks that only sell you there seeds are hit and mess. Best places I have found great beans are the secondary companies where you can buy 1 to 366325 at a time. Seems like they have a higher turn over. Also you can pick and chose seed companies to buy from, eg sensi, Barnys farm, green house seed co, to name a few. I say them as I personally like them and many others, but there at the top of my list. In saying that, I find demon seeds my go to site now after a good 8 years of buying now. That's just personal experience.

 

Personally I like to put them in a cotton or paper like others side, but I also put them in a large clip lock bag, seal the bag up 90% and fill the bag with a large breath, then seal it up. So it's like a bag full of air ( aka warm moist co2 ). Then 48 hours in a warm dark place like next to your hot water system. Then you should have nice little shots.

 

The issues I have found with the cup of water is that, some seed companies roll there seeds in like a light wax like they do with fruit. So if the water is not warm, it will not melt the wax. Aka water can't soften then seed to crack.

Cool Chopper, I have not heard of the warm breath cracking method before, will have to give it a crack..

 

Also never heard of seeds being coated in anything, other than GH coloured seeds. Do you recall the breeder/s that use this method?

too many variables with see germination to make any sort of claim...

Yes 2 Blueberry seeds and 2 small styrofoam balls (they didn't sprout)

The seedbank was very apolagetic offered to replace it in my next order....haven't had any issues with them since, but i still think wtf.

Mate I would put seed straight into pre soaked (I like to soak in 1/4 nutes) rock-wool cubes. Soak for about an hour does it for me.

Pointy end of seed down and in 3 to 4 days....sweet

Ideally I put  in to propagator with heat mat if needed, dome on, heaps of humidity...

 

Souther Star Seeds in OZ.

I have had 99% success rate  with their seeds so far.

Only downer is you cannot get feminized seeds.

Everyone has their own method I use a moist paper towel in a small tupperware container which sits on top of my modem and I open the container once a day to let out the stale air. 4 days is the most Ive ever had to wait

I was told by a local here to leave the seeds in the sun for a day or two then into the damp medium. I gave him some of my old seeds, 5 years or so, everyone of them cracked, were when I do them with the paper towel only 50% crack. Will be trying this soon.
