To early to clone my NL ?

Recommended Posts

My NL is only 16 days old, Ive read that you can clone very early into the process but the only node points i could use on the lower part of the plants are very small, i didn't want to cut a massive part of the top to clone, Its like 2" Long as shown in the photo.

Normal clone method used, New razor blade, slice cutting off, cut on 45 angle, scrape some of the stem and split in middle, put into clonex for 30 seconds or so and then into a little foam cube straight into the propagator tray, under a 55w cfl setup in my clone tent with some other cuttings.

Is it to small to kick off?

This is the actual plant -

I can't see any reason that should stop the clone from rooting...

Personally, I would have waited another week and then taken the top off the plant for cloning. That would have push the growth into the secondary stems and soon you'd have a bunch of stems ready to cut for clones.

The other reason i didnt want to do the top, is because i topped it already and it hadnt started growing out yet, but it has now so im hoping i will have a few more points to take from if this doesnt go well.

Only reason to wait a little bit longer is to give the little girl a better chance at kicking back after the stress of cutting her. On such a little kid like that, might take 7 - 10 days to really bounce back ( if no infection acutes ). If you wait 7 days then take cuttings. Might only be a few days till she bounces back if any.

As a basic rule, when your pruning trees, you don't take more the 1/3 of the head of a plant.
