A 67-year-old man is to appear in a Lithgow court today after police allegedly found more than 100 kilograms of marijuana in his possession.

Acting on information police say they stopped the man while he was driving his car in Lithgow, in central west NSW, yesterday morning.

They say a search of the vehicle found a kilogram of marijuana.

Police then searched the man's house, where it is alleged they found 12 50-litre drums and four 44 gallon drums of marijuana.

Police estimate the street value of the drugs at $600,000.
