Dutch bato or flood an drain

Recommended Posts

Yeah the guy I'm chatting to at the shop seems to know what his on about so I will go check out how he does it.

I said how I used to do it and he says pots is better as more control over roots. There still in a flood tray they just some how sit in pots instead of on little stands

The flood & drain tray is the go with black plastic pots  what ever size pots you want to use, just make sure your pots have enough holes in the bottom to  drain the nutrients out from, an big enough so they don't block up with roots.

I used to us this same system up until  a few years back now.

Now I use coco instead of clay balls but still use the flood an drain table to catch the run off water & nutrient so if the pots ever over flow the over flow is just drained outside or into a empty tub so there is no more floods on the floor.

If you use coco you don't have to water the plants so much like clay balls.

Now I use air/rocket pots with coco in them in the  flood & drain table an the air/pots are tops to grow in as I only have to water the girls every 5 t0 7 days depending on the air temp's an how big the girls are, bigger the girls are the bigger the root system is an they can drink a lot more nutrients an as I said the hotter the air temps are the quicker your pots will dry out as well.

I like this kind of system because you can just adjust the timer for the nutrient pump to water the girl  for any number of days depending on the girls requirements an it is very flex able system for me as a lot of days I cant check on the girls due to my different  illnesses that stop me from getting to my out door shed.

All the best with your hydro set up which ever system you choose to use.
