Dutch bato or flood an drain

Recommended Posts

What grows the best?

I've grown flood an drain before an it worked really well. But I'm looking at the BATO pots an the whole set up looks quite cheap.

$180 for 4 pots, pump stand an all attachments as well as growing medium seems pretty good

If the bato system grows as well as flood an drain I think I would go for that. Any advice either way would be appreciated

i got the 4 pot dutch kit i ended with rot root not sure why but i dont like the idea of having half a litre stored in the base of the pot i think its stupid really roots will become to wet and end up with rot root. iv just gone back to recye system 2x 30litre pots with hydroton / clay balls. the only thing that got me to buy the 4 pot dutch kit was because it was cheap never again

the 4 dutch pot kit is square pots that hold half a litre in the bottom of the pot incase of pump failure. they hold roughly 11 to 12 litres of hydroton / clay balls in each pot. i dont like the idea of water just sitting in the pots maybe i run my pump too much wich created heat wich is why i ended up with root rot not sure why. havent seen dutch bucket kit so no idea

Thanks for the tip I looked into it and it can be a problem also the "guy" reckons that they get blocked an shit so f&d it is.

Just one more thing when I grew yrs ago I just had them all sitting freely in the tank on little stands an the roots grew out from there. The "guy" reckons pots are the way to go and that's how everyone does it now. Is that true.

all i know about flood and drain is pump goes until it reaches certain height then just lets the lot slowley drain away i guess you could you pots and go recycle system wich is pretty much the same as flood and drain just have to figure out how long you need the pump running if you already got hydro exprince just go with the pots
