Best Shoes For Guerrilla Grow

Recommended Posts

Folks,

Preparing for this coming season and my spot is a 6km round trip on foot. On top of that will be my daily work on the patch. Used normal builders style slip on boots last season but didn't have that 6km walk.

Im thinking a good brand suited to hiking but also the labouring work of digging and carting water. Any of you old heads point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Anything that is comfortable and well fitting with ankle support(elastic sided boots are not good enough, lace ups are the go, well past the ankle). Carry a first aid kit at all times, with sufficient snake bite bandages, if you are alone, you will have to save yourself. I forget how many venomous snakes I have come across in the scrub, never bitten, touch wood.

Don't know your terain, but if it is anything like what I used to grow in, then there are plenty of hazards to trip you up, especially if you are carrying water. Blowing an ankle in the scrub is not fun, been there, done that.

I'm sure you know that your biggest enemy is leaving a well defined track to your plot. That you vary your entrance and trail to your patch, that creeks and water sources are the highways to the hills. Any water source with a well worn track leading from it is easily followed. You don't leave an unattended vehicle anywhere, for anyone to come across and wonder about. That the secret to success is being invisible, whilst everyone around you is visible.

I bought a Yamie 500 XT and rebuilt it, so that it was totally reliable. I parked it anywhere I wanted, straight into scub carefully and leaned it against a tree, out of sight, but never more than twice in the one spot.

A bit more than a boot reply, if you have already thought of the above, please forgive my reply. Good luck to you.

Edit, added definition of ankle support. ;)

Ha ha Louboutins French designs with 6 inch heel are lovely but what bag to pick Carlos...

Thanks ZEN2U my terain is as harsh as you could imagine so shoe choice considering my walking distance is very important. This is my first season going solo so your first aid kit advice will be acted on. King Browns a plenty around here...

Gaters... not only do they keep the grass seed and shit out of your socks, they provide a nice layer of snake protection for the ankle to knee area. A piece of kit well worth investing in if you plan to spend time humpig it through the bush during summer.
