Canada criminalized marijuana in 1923, one of the first countries to do so. There was no parliamentary or public debate and the government gave no explanation. And there were few pot smokers.

All politics, a very powerful versitile plant which threatened a lot of industries at the time and still does. It's hard to gain a monoply when it too easy to grow, pest resistant and makes so many products that are dependant on oil and has better effects than alcohol. Its the freedom plant goes against the priciple of capitalism. Cannabis is being criminalised for its genitic success. There is no shame or to have fear of the plant, as it will become our salvation in the future.
