will plants finish outdoors once weather turns cold?

Recommended Posts

I've two remaining plants outdoors which are still showing clear trichomes and probably have another couple of weeks to finish.

However, the weather has turned cold with not much sign of improvement on the horizon.

Forecast for the next week is maximums of 15 to 18 degrees, minimums of 3 to 6 degrees and 1/2 to an inch of rain tomorrow.

Will the plants continue to ripen or will the weather just degrade the quality of the smoke?

Outdoors usually finishes by mid May so your probably close enough to pull em or cover them from the rain or frost.

Don't think they like frost or cold weather

Excess moisture and humidity can give you bud rot.

Personally I would cut em down if bad weathers coming.

You have done well there Crowsange

your plants look like they still have a bit to give but

they aint good temps to finish off with and with the sun

getting lower in the sky every day and rain in the forecast

its a tough decision

I always sum by " If you have doubts pull em out"

Better in your kit than lost to nature

good luck happy smoking

To be honest I'm with Magpie on this. There is a possibility of rot setting in to the buds. If you were to not have the rain, I would have said to ignore the temps and let them keep going. You only have to worry about frosts at 0 C.

If you have easy access to cover/uncover and keep a close eye on them it would probably be worth leaving them go, just keep a really close eye out for mould.  They look like they could do with a bit longer, and they will continue to ripen but with lower temps and lack of good sun it will be a slow process, the cold won't kill them though, and it can bring out a bit of colour as well.  Might be worth picking a couple of little test buds and see if they are close enough for your tastes before making a decision.
