Your Best harvesting and triming tips

Recommended Posts

I was sitting there the other night manicuring one of my plants ready for jars, thinking, there has got to be an easier, faster or less boring way to do this.

I have searched a fair bit and have found threads describing the basic techniques and some even suggesting the "use" of a weed wacker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lg5xbdlrJQ) but was sure that with a bit of Aussie know how and "a piece of number 8 wire" someone has come up with a revolutionary way to do this. Better still we may be able to get a whole heap of suggestions together in one thread.

Here's where I thought we could start

Hey there max. Trimming can be a pain in the arse, I personally like to trim when wet. But others prefer to trim dry. Most impressive is nibblers trimmer in a bucket. I can't get the link to stick but if you search "trimmer" in forums it's about the 6th topic down.

edit* oh my. I am starting to tear up after watching that video.. idiots

It depends on what you are after

Some say 'Clean it wet' I don't I clean mine when its fully dry

Some say 'Use a weed wacker' I don't as it removes bits I want.

I have, on occasions, used a hash tumbler to remove leaf and collect triches at the same time, again with dry bud. It does work but it makes the buds symmetrical and as I say removes some of what I want to keep. But it can be a good idea for saving time and collecting the hash all in one.

Personally, for me, sitting down with a pair of scissors is a pain in the arse, but it is the best way to go. A manicure is a slow gentle process and for this scissors are the only way to go IMHO

im with merlin on this one,

for me its all about taking it slow, after the plant is finished (this means fully ripened and flushed) i simply cut my plants off at the base and hang upside down to dry. i simply hang them in the tent i grew them in with the exhaust fan still running.

i hang until the buds feel crispy but the stems dont snap yet, this can take between 2-4 weeks at my house with fairly high humidity all the time.

once the buds feel right i trim them all and remove them from the stems at the same time, then i pop them into a jar for 24hrs which usually makes them feel moist again. if they do come out a little moist i pop them into brown paper bags over night again or until they feel nice then back into jars, i repeat that until im happy with the jarred bud then seal it up burping occasionally if needed.

the dry trim is excellent stuff and i have made up a little hash tumbler out of an old protein powder bottle and some 125micron stainless steel mesh, it simply hooks onto my electric drill and i tumble all my dry trim for dry sift kief. i prefer the dry sift stuff over bubble hash it just seems to be cleaner and has excellent flavour plus you can press it into pucks or leave it loose like sand and sprinkle it on top of cones or joints :)

lol Ford, that friggin trimmer ended up being a bit of a beast, almost got me one day when the blade snapped and exited the side of the bucket....

I got to agree with above comments, trimming is shit, fun for the first few hours, then tedious, but a good manicure by hand with scissors is gentle and keeps the buds in top condition .

As for a tip.........1) seperating shade and sugar leaves into seperate buckets will give you good quality hash trim and a bucket of crud for the garden bed.

                           2) Go to the shops and stock up on food, drinks and everything you need, because after you start you'll stink to the heavens... lol
