Headless mutant

I put in a couple of freebie "Thunder Bloody Mary" seeds, one of them is a headless mutant. Or perhaps the leaves have merged around/over the leader.. hence the strange little leaf poking out of the stem.

 

I don't have the right camera gear for decent photos but the ones attached should give some idea.

 

There appears to be a shoot forming at the first axil, and I am tempted to let it struggle on the see what happens.

 

Has anyone had one of these mutants and tried to grow it on?

 

If I was to let the shoot get bigger do you think that the plant will think the new shoot is/was the original leader and continue to grow ok?

 

Thoughts or opinions welcome.

that is awesome.  it should continue to grow but what she'll look like is anyones guess.  please keep the pics coming

Heya Ecc =) , yeah the two leaves didn't seperate for some reason, so the new growth had nowhere to go. Looks like it will try and sqeeze out the side.

Keep her going, love to see what happens....

whether or not that shoot grows doesnt really matter, it will survive and it will grow form the 2 shots where the first set of true leaves came from so dont discard it.

Its a stubborn little thing, a true aussie battler (even though it is an immigrant), its shooting out of the side of the stem

Thats cool, you can clearly see now the two leaves that should have seperated at the top are joined at the stems and have stopped the main shoot from being central, hence why it is protruding from the side. Cheers Ecc =).

I love how the plant is treating that leaf like the main growing shoot.  It'll be well interesting to see how she branches out because of that

This is an auto so not sure what its going to do but looks like its going to try to shoot all over the place.
