Fert requirements for flowering

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

I think I have read the entire forum on nutes, and cant see what I am looking for, so here goes.

I have 3 plants (bag seed, growing in 10 lt buckets of good organic potting mix from bunnings, growing outdoors in the back yard, no lights just nature)

As the days get shorter, I looking to possibly switch fertilizer to some thing with more P in it, as I have read the flowers use more.  I'm currently using Miracle Grow Max feed (22-6-11) and it has treated them well, reasonable size etc for a low tech kind of set up.

Can anyone recommend a brand or type of fert that they have used in soil that will hopefully offer up the right mix for good buds?

I have read that it is important to keep up the N and K levels too, using the 'veg' fertiliser, so will perhaps alternate the 2 ferts.

Also, totally off topic, but a simple one I thought 'd through in, 1 of my plants has gone hermie, showing quite a bit of white hairs and balls. I have taken all (that I could see) balls off, is it likely that the flowers will develop into anything worth smoking? Or is the risk of seeding the other 2 (looking female that I can tell) greater than any possible harvest i may get??  All three plants are in a small courtyard, 7mts by 4mts approx.

thanks,

Ide go to your local hydro shop and ask them what they recommend, that's what i did. Or since you bought from bunnings just go through and read some of there nutrient bottles and most of them have the same stuff with a few having extra little things in them.

On a side note 10Ltrs is tiny...especially for an outdoor grow isnt it? why not just plant strait in the ground? your roots in 10ltr pots wont have much room to move. as for the Hermie i would just ditch it asap. if you have a female just take cuttings from it.

Hi relaxed.

Plants in soil dont need feeding to much as the salts can built up in the soil and cause u probs and being only a 10lt bucket can happen quickly.

For flowering plants in soil use potash as a flowering booster say every 3rd watering imo.

With ya hermie it will seed all your plants any where near if is it growing balls, if u dont want seeded plants i would take it now.

IMO for every ball u pull off there is one u missed and will seed the plants...

Thanks Herby, I used buckets instead of the ground, as I need to be able to move them should the (real) estate agent come for inspections. :detective2:  But what you say about 10lts seems about right, at just over a mtr tall, they are slowing up somewhat.

I did do some reading at Bunnings, thanks!!

Thanks Ozzy, bet you are right there too. I only have 3 plants, keen to get whatever I can off them. Its been a bit of a learning experience that's for sure. I have recently started putting them in the shed at night (avoid light pollution from the back verandah light) in 12/12 time, and this is where I am at now with 2 of the 3

I have included some pics of the current state of affairs.

This is the current state of the hermie first mentionedpost-53495-0-16099700-1395044032_thumb.jpg

This is the 2nd plant....Is it looking hermie too? ie balls and flower pistals (the bigger pod shape)post-53495-0-20609900-1395043756_thumb.jpgpost-53495-0-09439200-1395044269_thumb.jpg

And the top of the flowers....post-53495-0-31585300-1395044370_thumb.jpg

Any thoughts/comments greatly appreciated
