DWC - Question for the Deep Water Culture guys!

Recommended Posts

To be honest mate first time your better doing a coco grow. No pumps to worry about, water levels, ec shift etc etc.

you can even go organic nutes, don't have to worry about ph and just hand water every few days when the coco drys out.

You don't use much in the way of nutes and it's easy as. Once you get your plants dialled in you can pull decent yields.

For a noob id advise to begin with an amended soil/coco/peat moss/perlite mix. You can work out similar ratios to the canna terra pro medium that is sold to be used alongside their canna terra nutrient line (which you should also use....). its a matter of just mixing it all together in a drum or something similiar with a bunch of dolomite lime - it is best to leave it mixed together with the benes and water it thoroughly once or even twice a week for a month prior to use for best results!) Setup a drip irrigation system feeding low ppms and forget about all the fucking hassles noobs might face when growing in one of the more advanced systems. With beneficial bacteria added with a nice ammount of humic and fulvic..... and a few added beneficial ingredients and you will grow topshelf cannabis immediately! Coco can be a little tricky for somebody who hasnt had much experience cultivating cannabis. Growing topshelf cannabis as good as any of the med cannabis photos you can see anywhere online shouldnt be difficult, its actually simple !! Dont over-complicate, if you give the plant what it needs already in its medium its only a matter of supplying minimal supplemental nutrients to maintain nutrients within the medium. I love growing in coco and ammended soil mixes but for ease-of-use .... ammended soil mix. A similiar recipe to the one i have used is subcools supersoil recipe - look into it if you are having difficulties understanding the requirements of the plant.

Later mate - good luck with it.

Run to waste coco and perlite, hand fed with a few plants is by far the simplest, lift pot up when dry water, the lifting is the hardest bit about the setup lol

Hmm well i already bought the stuff required for the DWC but i also have the stuff for coco-perlite. When doing a waste to run of do you guys sit the pot on some bricks with a tray underneath and then empty the run off when its full ?

Also thinking i could have the plants sitting on scales and weigh them with no water and then with water and water as required, but that doesn't take into account the weight of the roots and stuff, would this still be ok ?

It's up to you bro what you want to do, I would personally go for coco/perlite but that's me. I have a pot in a pot setup, where the bottom pot only has one dranage hole which I connect to poly tube and have running out of the tent.

But before when I was using smaller pots without a scrog, I just brought them outta the tent to water em let em drain then put em back in.

I wouldn't weigh as you said few variables that can skew it, once coco loses its water it is an extremely light media, it is very easy to notice this difference imo. it's hard to explain and best expereinced first hand though.

Hmm i think i might see if i can raise them a few cms of the ground with like a false floor or something and have it drain into a tray thats on a slight angle with a pipe heading outside, or maybe just some upside down bin lids and then just slide em out and chuck out the waste water...hmm, well more things to do on the weekend :)
