This was reccomended to me, What do you think

Recommended Posts

For my potting mix at first i was going to use 30% composted cow manure, 30% perlite and 40% perlite, I just  randomly found this mix from a youtube video i watched and it seemed to work well, and i was just going to use de-chlorinised water as the watering agent. How ever ive since been told that cow manure can cause a few issues with growing weed and also i didnt take into account how hot and smelly it would get in a grow tent and have now been told to try a 50/50 mix of perlite and sri lanka coco coir as the compost and to use normal tap water mixed with 1ml oxy plus , 1ml nitorzyme 1ml pro silicate 1ml oxy plus and 10ml of a single part grow food per litre of water.

What do you guys think?

also my oxy plug bottle was leaking and when i picked it up to read it i notice some of my fingertips went white and now they are itchy...fuck sake lol!

herby, if i was you i would work only with tried and tested products intially

when you have a good understanding of Cannabis life cycle you can experiment with different methods and mixes

for example i think you may well find the range of Canna products tried, tested and proven by many growers

just have a look at the oz Canna site here; http://www.canna.com.au/terra

while these products are not cheap, neither is buying weed cheap

sorry if such links are not appropiate here, but i think herby needs to research these things in depth

Hi thanks for the links, Any tips are appreciated as im new to this ! will check out that site and see if i can get the cana stuff .

30% perlite AND 40% perlite ??? what else did you mean to put in lol? i assume coco?

and yeah messing round with random chemicals if you don't know what your doing 100% can be dangerous go to your local hydro shop and get some basic veg and flower nutes for starters.

WOOPS typo! i mean 40% Perlite and 30% Peat Moss

I have some basic nutes from the hydro shop, the ones i listed above ( one they gave me is 250ml and has a bunch of stuff in it )

what are your guys thoughts on the coco coir ? and using de-chlorinated water?

Id use coco coir over peat moss as the main ingredient in my medium. As for nutrients get a simple 2 parter designed for coco coir. As for de-chlorinating your water, you can buy and airstone and let it sit in the water overnight, or just let the container of water sit there without a lid for a few nights before using it

Been looking into this and most water from major city's contain  chloramine  not chlorine. I know seq add chloramine to there water and stopped using chlorine some time ago . It WILL NOT evaporate out in a few days .

I think it can be filtered out , boiled out or left in direct sun for 1/2 a day .  Aquarium stores  Sell products to neutralize cholramine because i  it can kill fish .

The most premium soil you can buy is Canna Terra Soil, not so called 'premium mixes' from Bunnings.

There is a better type of soil but it is made by what I call "Soil Wizards" who are usually 50+ years old and have experience mixing the best composted soil and layering you could imagine.... all you need to do is water the entire life cycle. They are very rare.

Nurseries sell better soil than Bunnings, but sometimes they get greedy and use too much sand.... a little silica is good, but not 50% sand

I use Canna Terra soil with no extra perlite (I get it for $30 a bag) and simply water through with a Dolomite product from Bunnings called "ECO Dolomite".  It has Calcium and Magnesium with extra seaweed, $10 a bottle. It is micronised and works better than mixing the old dolomite into the mix before potting as I used to.

I run it trough first watering and then I can water with nutes of any PH for the rest of the cycle with no ph issues.

As to nutes, try your local hydro for some Organic nutes. They are slower, but so is soil, so you may as well take advantage of the quality and flavour of using organics.

Dont use miracle gro etc...... just harsh crap *shakes head*
Remember to use seaweed, it is your best friend for healkthy plants ;)

Peace!

P.s If your store told you to use Oxy Plus in soil I am baffled... Sounds like the product may be from a store in Brisbane?
Id search the net for another store... ;)
