Should I transplant this girl ?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys... Here is my outdoor dutch passion "mazar",  I grew the same plant last year with fantastic results... really really potent smoke... Strongest I have ever had....
and she threw off one single seed and here we are now... this is the offspring and yep she is a female ... she self pollinated herself as there was no other males around.

She is powering this year and last year I finished her in the same 55L pot ...but however this girl is still veg not like the one last year... she has just shown some tiny pre flowers under the 30X mag glass....

I reckon this girl could be transplanted into a 150L big potting bag... I think she is going to get real big...
Or should I be just leaving in her in this pot of 55L? I got about 6 ounces last year off the single plant... would be great if I got alot more with my 150L bag :)

I noticed with my last mazars they always "triple" in size by the end of the time they show preflowers... So I can imagine this one is going to be a big girl...

Fed with canna a+b, Cannazym at ph 5.8 and chasing the sun in the back yard all day with some fake flowers the neighbours can enjoy.

Gday mate I'd be waiting a bit longer before your pot it up to a larger pot. I would generally wait till you can see a good amount of roots wanting to get out of the drainage holes first for a couple of reasons. Firstly it will be a lot easier to tip upside down and slide out of the pot partially root bound without the medium falling away exposing the roots. Secondly a lot of plants prefer to be slightly root bound when transplanted as they tend to take off quicker in the new pot. It looks like you have your plant in COCO and it can stay too wet if the roots aren't "infiltrating" the majority of the medium sucking up the moisture. This leads to low oxygen levels in the medium slowing root growth consequently setting the plant back. You want your new roots to "head" into the new mix ASAP so when you do your first water in after transplanting take note of the weight of the pot and only re water after it has significantly lightened. Cheers Pat.

great mate for that information.... Like i said earlier the mazar I had last year was this girl size ! so im very impressed and very happy! A few have told me in that pot size you won't be getting more than 6 ounces in a 55L pot.... So im a bit stumpt for what to do... I shall wait a bit longer as I found out she is definatley not rootbound... my dog decided to stick his nose in the soil and give it a shake around and let me tell you... he went abou 6 inches down with me seeing no roots visable at all.... So that tells me she has alot of filling out to do and most of all its going to be quite awkward tipping her upside down to transplant aswell like you mentioned....

I just hope before she starts to flower I start to see some roots so I can eventually finish her in a 150L bag or even a 100L bag for maximum yield.

I also made a new thread about what to add to my feeding schedule...

I just feed her cannazym and canna a+b... however I want to add more to send her vegetation in overdrive... Winter is approaching and im aiming big and want to beat the harvest of 6 ounces last year!  Since been in coco and not organic... stuff like seasol, or making a home wormcasting mix tea would be stupid wouldn't it? Maybe there is something canna has in there lineup of nutrients that would benefit me? I am trying out canna boost this year along with PK13/14 to see if makes any difference in yield .

Thanks mate! thumbs up!!!!

I'm growing my first COCO indoor grow at the moment and mix up the feeding schedule a fair bit. I'm of the "variety is the spice of life" school and use several different products in my feeding. CANNA A & B could be classed as my "base" nutrient and I add to this. To my eyes and understanding CANNA Rhizotonic is basically a SEAWEED EXTRACT so having already had a long standing use of SEASOL in general gardening both amateur and professionally (horticulturist by trade) I use this as my "tonic".  I do a basic feed of A & B (2-3ml / L ) and add 10 - 20 ml of SEASOL  about every third feed. My alternate feeds are (1) A & B (2-3 ml/L) plus 15 ml SEASOL with 2 teaspoons of MOLASSES (10 L mix) ,(2) A & B (1.5 ml/L) 15ml SEASOL , 15ml POWERFEED (12:1.4:7) and 1 tea spoon (5 gm ) of SEARLES GREEN & GROWTH (22:4:8) in 10 L of water. I flush using a 15 L mix of pH adjusted water with 2 tea spoons of MOLASSES. I never exceed an EC of 1.8 and generally try to aim for 1.4 - 1.6 with my pH between 5,65 - 5.80. Regarding whether COCO medium is not organic it is not entirely inert like PERLITE having some mineral content that over time becomes available to plants. Organic products IMO are better utilised in COCO medium than an inert medium as the medium is more conducive to beneficial bacteria that help convert the organic nutrients into available forms. I hope someone else chimes in as this is becoming a one sided conversation and I am by no means a COCO expert. Cheers Pat.
