my girl is not having a good time..... :(

Recommended Posts

G'day,

This girl has been growing in soil outside for the past 3+ months somewhere in NSW.

First time grower, been pretty problem free so far. Then this happened (image attached).

I have been looking through potential problems and it seems over watering, lack of drainage and potentially a nitrogen problem?

Can anybody confirm/diagnose the problems?

If this is the case, any suggestions on how to get her back to health? I was going to start by drilling some holes in the bottom of the pot plant in case it isn't draining the water properly. Also i may need to look at proper/better fert. Currently using a random organic one which is ok for edibles (was suggested this somewhere).

Toke on!

i've been watering it daily like a couple of litres.
we had some pretty heavy rainfall for a couple of hours two days ago so i didn't water, and within a day or two this started happening, and she looks like she is getting worse.

it has been super hot, so i could see it being underwatering.
quick question on that i guess, how much should u be watering them?

it looks dry to me to, some mixes are so aerated you need to water more than once a day, if I had to guess, its no water, or to much water, if to much water is applied to certain mixes, the water pushes most of the air out the mix, which produces a weltered plant that looks like its to dry, the reason for watering till a good amount runs out the bottom is, it does two things, its makes sure its well watered, and it flushes excess salts that can build up in the soil. if it was my plant

1-if weltered after watering, re pot into a more open mix, and avoid sitting the pot in a tray, as it may stay wetter for longer, but will stop it draining properly(its to wet)

2-if its not holding enough water, re pot into a much larger pot, re pot into a wetter mix or put it into the ground
