clones turning yellow?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am after a little bit of help in regards to some clones I have taken. This is the first time I have tried this and everything seems to be going well up until the last few days when my babies started to turn yellow. I am unsure if it is a nutrients problem or something else.

A little bit of a run down. I have taken these clones from a plant almost 4 weeks ago. I have 4 and my mate has 4 he is having the same problem as I am. I have taken the clones from a Silver LA (Silver Bubble X LA Confidential) the clones are in soil (potting mix) which is them same type that I grow plants in normally.  My clones are under a 130W compact fluro 6400K that I purchased from the hydro shop and they insured me that it would be fine to do the job for both mother plants and clones under the one light?? I have tried to find info to diagnose what the problem is but have had no real luck.

Here are a few picks of what they look like, hopefully one of you guys will be able to share your wisdom with me and help me fix the problem or tell me to just relax and there is no problem :) post-47403-0-33152700-1391416062_thumb.jpgpost-47403-0-42069500-1391416094_thumb.jpgpost-47403-0-93300600-1391416072_thumb.jpgpost-47403-0-63602800-1391416085_thumb.jpg

Thanks for your time on this guys.

Cheers and stay green

Awesome thanks for the tips and advice.

Am using tape water, only been in the pots for 3 weeks and 4 days 30cm from the light and I am just using liquid seaweed and some other type of general garden liquid fertilizer once a week (very week sollution).

Forgive my dumbness but PH level what should it be? And do I need to do anything else to the water before using it? I am only currently using tape water but that has been standing for 3-5 days (thought this might help).

Thanks again for all the help but also the fast reply.

And thanks for the link Doctor Who, the second one though did not work due to me not being a 420 member

bufo would be right with your ph being off.  I believe with soil you need to aim for around 6.5 so I would recommend going into your hydro shop and buying either a ph meter which will give you an accurate digital reading of the ph or the ph drops if you can't afford the ph meter.  You shouldn't need to feed them anything either.  Being so small the soil should have everything they need but if the ph is off the plants can't access the nutrients.

your plants are also going to be root bound after being in those pots for so long so you should transplant them into bigger pots asap.  Do that and give them some ph'd water and they should come good for you.  If they don't we can cross those two major things off the list and help you with any other problem that presents itself :)

Standing the water evaporates the chlorine but doesn't alter the pH. Most tap water is around 8... it should be corrected to 5.8 - 6.0

If you use shit potting mix from Coles at $4 a bag it's the old story, you get what you pay for.

There are 100 grow guides on here, nobody uses crap potting mix. Put some thought into what your plants are being fed, get the medium sorted, add some dolomite to correct the alkalinity of soil if you insist on using soil... I could go on, but better if you do some more reading yourself :)

They actually aren't too far off being healthy

I'll bet you been watering with tap water and the plants just arent getting any nutrient as the pH is too high in those little pots.

Try repotting in a premium potting mix and get some pH down

Hey,

Just wanted to thank you guys for all you help and advice. Did it all and just wanted to say thank you and give you an update. Bought a PH test kit and corrected the water. Bought some new potting mix and added some Dolomite as well as some Vermiculite and repotted into larger pots. Sang to them and gave them heaps of love and over the last 2 days they are looking allot better than they did. Obviously I am still a noob and have allot to learn about growing but that will come with time and help from wise people like your selves who have done it for longer than I have. Here are some picks to show you the progress in the last 2 days.

Again a huge thank you for your time and help B)
