New Tent & New Lighting w/CO2 Generator

Recommended Posts

I am in need off some seasoned advice please.

I just bought an entire new set-up and this is what I have.  5'X5'X8' Tent, 1000W ballast and bulb, CO2 genny, 8" fans for lighting and ventilation.

I have been using LED's in a much smaller tent and would like a little help with setup for instance:

What is the max (give or take a few) temp inside the tent when using 1000W with CO2 level of 1500ppm?  I am using an oscillating fan and 2 static fans for air movement.  I turn my vent system on every 3 hrs. to cycle the air and provide fresh CO2.  After my 12/12 I use the vent system until it's time to start over the next day.  Using Advanced Nutes full pH perfect line in Canna brand coco.

I am now wondering if I should try a double up with my 2 300W LED's and the HPS set to 600W.  Does anyone have some knowledge to share about a setup like that?  Or would I be better served with keeping the HPS at 1000W?  I am a nube to this set up and could use a little help in the right direction.

I'm not sure exactly what your question is.

If you are asking us to tell you how hot it will get in your setup we can't do that. Just buy a thermometer and measure the temperature.

If you are asking what temperature can Cannabis handle there is a fair bit of info about that on the forum. What is most important is keeping the rootzone temperatures relatively cool, if you can do that the ambient temp inside the tent can get quite high without negatively affecting the plants.

What kind of "CO2 genny" will you be running? If it is a gas one this will increase temperature and risk of fire.

Yes I am asking what the temp range is that it can grow in.  I believe that with the higher CO2 the heat factor goes up provided there is a constant supply of CO2.  I refresh my tent every 3 hours to ensue that plenty of fresh CO2 is available.  I purchased the Titan 2 burner LP genny and their controller which monitors the %.  It is an acceptable risk for fire, as there are built in safety features in a commercial system and it is UL rated.  I am new to this site and don't quite now my way around the site yet.  Like I asked earlier, I am mostly after place with good research as I am kind of a nerd like that.  Thanks again for your help, as I am not sure or your time zone I look forward to reading your reply.  I there any site that discusses using HID and LED in combination?  Like I said, I am a nube and just looking for a push in the right direction.

Hey Man,

I have seen a few around that use the both kinds of lights together but from what I have seen you may as well use all your power on the HPS light.

LED's aren't hot at the front but they still pump out a bit out the back so I don't think you will see any heat benefit either. The only thing that may be good is that you could position the lights around the tent. 3 lights in a tent sounds like a pain in the ass though :)

If you are a 'noob', I wouldn't use the CO2 at all. Very few people go that far, and im sure it wont take you long to find amazing results without using it. Keep it simple.

"Yes I am asking what the temp range is that it can grow in" Weed will grow pretty much in any temp. I believe the optimum is 27-30 degrees Celsius and best not below 18-20.

Good Luck

I particularly agree with those points.

I would have to agree to scrap the co2 idea sorry.

Even most experienced growers dont use co2.

Despite the money you spend on a propane burner with co2 sensor or gas bottles/regulator/co2 sensor, you must first have your grow dialed in close to perfect.

Then you must be sealed correctly, time fans to turn off/ventilate room correctly and run temperatures close to 30 deg (90F) to utilize the co2 at its optimum level.

Even with the running costs and nailing the above perfectly, co2 only really shows results in veg period and less in flower from what I have seen/found from many grows.

Better to use that money on extra lighting to achieve that extra yield your looking for ;)

Peace!
