Gnats :(

Recommended Posts

^ Cool, didn't know neem worked on gnats.

I use BT . Got it from the states via ebay. Its a bacteria ( Baciluus thurengiensis ssp israelensis [ or something like that]) that kills the larvae and you just add the powder to your water.

I tried using a layer of hydroton on top but it didn't phase them. I did get rid of them once using azamax but from memory it took a while and the plant suffered.

I let my coco go bone dry a few times through a grow , helps kill those buggers like frank said and persoanly  yet to see any ill effect to the plant .

The day the pot feels bone dry I water and the plants loves it .

Also a thin layer of clayballs on your medium and then lay yellow stick traps horzontialy on the clayballs covering most the top helps , any gants leaving the medium get stuck as do the 1's trying to get into it . The clay balls are only there to stop the coco sticking allover the yellow traps .

I use clay balls on the top of a lot of my pots, but it's no for any pest control, it's to stop me from digging holes in the medium and spreading it every where. lol

Did not know BT worked on gnats. I might look in to that. Fight bugs with bugs. lol

I would be interested in trying a lay of diatomaceous earth between my medium and clay balls tho.
