Hi ther again ozzers , it's me gerdy from Ireland, I had bin asking before crimbo on the subject of lights, what best for flowering in a 4x4 grow room would 1000 watts hps be to much heat and thus cut thc production down... Or should I stick with either a 600 hps or metal halide. Any suggestions I am two weeks into vegging 4 babies they're about a foot from top of stones, I'm doini hydro only cause of my kid bro he does all the nute and ph carry on. I would prfer soil cause even after 3 weeks flushing with freshwater ya still git a bit of a sore. Or again as I'm ony in for my 4th grow are ther any organic hydro nutes ?? I have no idea what your temps get to outside/inside over there. I would go with a 600w hps in a cool tube to flower your girls ?

You could go to 1000w if you can manage the extra heat and have enough height in your grow space.

If you are yet to buy a ballast, maybe an electronic one that can drive both HPS and MH........

Hi there train wreck thnks for jumpin in mate, as fir temperature s,,, one time I remember as a kid we actually hit 30 degrees one summer but mostly mid 20s

 

When I had my two lamps a 4 and 600 it reached max 32.5, in 4x4 standard grow room and have two 5" filtering extraction and a 4" intake for negative circulation. I cant really vent or leave a window open I live dstairs. I think I'll give the 600 a go this time to see how wee go !! Would adding the 400w say in last month of flowering help in anyway, would it make for bigger buds ?

Lucky your outside temps don't get too high, we had temps in parts of OZ pushing towards 50 C yesterday.

Do you just vent into the part of the house/unit that you use ? Must get pretty warm ?

I use 2 x 400w HPS in a grow space similar in size to yours. I can spread the light better than using one fitting, lower or raise each as required.

Getting your lighting, nutrient levels and temps right, will all have an effect on harvest/bud size. Strain selection will also effect your potency/weight at harvest...........
