how to slow branches down

Recommended Posts

Gday,

Does anyone know any good ideas for slowing growth for a particular branch?

i've attached an amazing paint drawing to help illustrate what I mean

Should the bottom set of branches just be pruned off as the sets above will always be shading it or is the a way to slow the upper branches so the bottom branches can make it clear out the side?

Cheers

ps. Id love to hear some peoples pruning methods for their plants. ie. Do you prune the branches to grow the same way every time like topping on the 4th set, taking off particular branches, the same amount of colas etc

its ok, I know what lst is, I was talking about controlling the length of each branch without ruining the tip when its ready for budding. Rather then subject people to another paint drawing, this jewish symbol is pretty much how I would like a new plant to grow. :D

I think I need to just follow what merlin said because after the budding kicks in, many of the smaller branches get lost among the bigger ones and just end up being a waste of time.

I often tip young plants at the 3 or 4 node, mix in a little super cropping and the plant looks the same as your candelabra, minus the middle tip. The loss of the tip is more than made up for by the bottom branches.

I have also super cropped the tip in flower when the plant has exceeded the grow room height. Just bent it over and supported it's weight............ :greedy:
