Hello all,

I am extremely frustrated at the moment as I'm finding it so hard to just get a straight answer that matches up with what type of soil I am trying to grow with. I am trying to start a small personal grow and I am not from the area so conversions, soil mixes, and availability of products, is finding to be EXTREMELY frustrating.

I went to Bunnings, and got tossed back and forth by people who didn't understand that I just wanted soil without any time release nutrients etc. After an hour there, and no luck finding a single product, I kind of just gave in and went with what the gardening "specialist" said was good.

1x Scott's Osmocote Garden Mix Plus - 25 Liter bag

1x Blood and Bone Meal with Potash - 20 Liter bag

1x Perilite - 5 liters

1x Jiffy-7 Peat Pellets (36 total)

I am growing from seeds and just want to know what I should get when I go to Bunnings for my second round of supplies; or to take back the current ones I have. Also, any suggestions on the amount I should mix would be amazing! (Starting 7 seeds, will keep the top two in 40cm round buckets)???

Thank you so much for your help in advance!!!!!!!!

Nurseries are a betterplace to visit if you need advice. Bunnings range of potting mixes from what I have seen have to much wood in them. Searles premium mix is good and well priced. Not available at Bunnings. They all have slow release nutes in them except for a few at the top end of the price range. $40 for 50 litres. Check out Searles web site and you will find out if there is a place near you that stocks it, or email them like I did. Very nice helpful people.

Hiya Brewed :peace:

I've got a couple in pots outside and am using searle's kickalong organic potting mix http://www.searles.com.au/organicrange.html , perlite, cow manure (I jus got the bag stuff from the side of the road but might get store bought next time), handful or two of cleaned bunter's coco. I mixed it @ 'around' 4-1-1 for the potty mix, perlite and cow manure. I layed down about a 50mm layer of the brew then sprinkled a small handful neutrog 'seamungus' http://www.neutrog.com.au/seamungus-2/ and filled the pot up ready for planting.  We used the Osmocote/perlite combo last summer on a couple of little sensi skunk clones and they did really well considering I watered them most of the time un-ph'd (checked it in the end and I was feeding them at nearly ph8)  Gogo juice too.  Between bunters and our garden centres  we pretty much got the soil covered I think....so far lol I really the searle's kickalong so far -easy draining and still holds enough moisture.  The plants seem happy.

Peace and good growing. v :sun:
