Just after some advice please

Mr Jane

Recommended Posts

Hey stoners, I'm nearing the end of my grow, but I have a couple of questions/problems.

The first being that my colas don't look all that nice/tight, instead of nugs they are sort of spindly, with what I can only describe as little fingers protruding out. The smaller lower buds look nice though.

The second is, even with stringing up the top colas, one has folded over, the branch hasn't snapped, just folded and I can't get the right angle to string it back upright. Would this be a problem to leave it this way?

Just one more thing, one of the main colas, about 50% has turned yellowish and I can see what I would say looks a little bit like a spider web in the top of it?

All help, opinions and suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

I'll try and upload pics if I can (on my phone)

Thanks!

…. looks a little bit like a spider web in the top of it?

You have spider mites

With spider mites you will see a decrease in trichnom production, funky bud development (underdevelopment)

and the yellow leave problem too.

treatment depends on how much longer you think the plants need.

2 weeks 5 weeks?

the bent stem could be from mite damage…

Hey There Mr Jane,

I haven't seen you ere for a while, howzit goin?

Sounds like you've got some things happening there.

How far along are they? You need to tell us this to know an appropriate action IMO.

How long was your planned harvest time?

It sounds like you have spider mite for a start, now there are a few treatments. But some are chemical based and need time to breakdown before harvest. Some of these chemicals can be pretty bad if smoked or consumed. Depending on the treatment, depends on how long you have till harvest.

Some photos would be useful

Thanks for the quick replies everyone.

That's some tough luck for me though.

I'm not too sure how far off from harvest she is, the trics are still clear, but after your advice Thunder I'd say the mites have had a fair bit to do with them not turning milky/amber by now.

I've taken your advice Salvia and I'm just going to flush as much as I can for the next 3 days then cut her down. Would it be a good idea to remove the infected cola now?

For future reference what preventatives could I take to eliminate this problem?

Thanks again guys.

Hey Merlin, I sent the last post before reading your reply, it's been a while, just been lurking mostly. Things have been good apart from this little upset, one day I'll get it right. How's things been treating you?

Anyways with the plant, I was planning to harvest at the end of the month, so not so far off the desired time, just as I said trics have not developed. I can't actually post pics unfortunately, I know they'd be a big help.

I don't know what else to say really apart from what I've mentioned previously, I think it's best to just salvage what I can. Take it easy man.

...... How's things been treating you?....

The easiest way to answer that question is "Don't ask". I've been very unwell and although the Dr's say they've fixed things, if this is fixed then I'm fucked (OK so more fucked than normal lol ). Anyway. Shit happens.

How many weeks is that?

So do I.

Have some miticide on hand ready to go. As soon as you see them, spray. And follow the instructions. Some manufactures recommend followup sprays and although one treatment may knock them and it look like they have gone, they can be persistent little cunts and be hiding, so follow the instructions and do a followup treatment, even if they seem to have gone. Another non chemical treatment option is bio bugs or beneficial bacteria. For example Ladybirds are a predatory insect that will eat mites and aphids etc, but again it can take some time for them to eat them all, depending on how bad the infestation is.

I also have sticky strips in my room, they are yellow which attracts the insects and are great for flying bugs like white fly, but I'm not sure how effective they would be with crawling mites. In saying that, when Ive used the strips Ive not had a problem with mites, now whether that was due to the strips or not, Im unsure.

Live and learn from the experience. So long as learn from it, it hasn't been a wasted experience. Maybe a hard lesson, but not a wasted one.

Good luck with it all
