Newbie Farmer... Looking to get amongst it

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm a newbie to this community reading and learning from all sorts of posts put up by you guys so I just wanna say Thanks in advance for all the info:) it awesome... I'm also attempting my second season at growing cannabis but first time at guerrilla growing...Anyway just a random question I'm hoping to get your thoughts on nothing major, I just wanted to introduce myself and somehow get involved with you all:) so here goes

I think I may have over done it with rain crystals, probably about 350g to about 40lt of potting mix... Do you think I've done something bad?

Hey Cornie,

Welcome to OS. Lots of great people and information here, so go read up

As for your question, Its a bit hard to say. Some potting mixes already have water retaining crystals in them and adding more maybe of little benefit. Some mixes have a high % of sand, which is great for drainage but has no water retention value at all and in this case adding crystals would help. Also temps will have an impact, The higher the temps the more evaporation will occur and therefore more water retention maybe beneficial. Personally, my situation is different, I'm indoors using a recirc setup in perlite/clayballs and don't use the crystals. It really is a case of 'trial and error' for your situation imo.

Good luck with it all.

welcome Cornbeefie.. (love the name btw)... lol..

cannabis typically likes good drainage.. its roots need oxygen and water, to absorb nutrients..

like merlin said, every one is different, so have a crack , take notes.. and lets find out if "youve done something bad.." ..

i would be lookin for signs of over watering( droopy leaves) and adjust accordingly..

most importantly have fun.. with it and remember its a plant.. lol

Peace
