Hippies need help!

Recommended Posts

Ok...after years and years of growing outdoors, the rats of the sky have finally driven me to attempt our first grow indoors.

After much studying of your very informative pages..I'm not.. informed that is. Brain must be more baked than I realized. So, can someone

help me out with the lights we'll need for 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 m grow room. Husband hippy thinks that 2 x 80 watt CFL's will do the trick. Any suggestions?

I agree with the above lighting suggestions.

oi you I would go with a 600w hps in a cool tube in that size area . good luck with growing in doors in summer unless you have aircon I wouldn't bother good luck

I grow indoors in summer every year, running 1200W or more without aircon or cooltubes.

What is your secret Nay and what sort of temperature ranges to you get in the grow area?

I think the main thing that keeps the temps down is that I cut a 250mm hole in the floor that draws cool air from underneath the house using a 250mm centrifugal fan. Even on a hot day the air beneath the house is cool so that is my saving grace. Possibly that I grow in a bedroom helps as there is a larger space for the heat from the lights to dissipate.

I haven't measured temps in the room for quite a long time but I would guess they wouldn't be higher than the mid to high 20's. I plan on getting a new thermometer/hygrometer soon so I'll be able to be more specific on the range later.

Ahhhh now I see... can't replicate that here... house is on a concrete slab.

Hey Lou, I'm on a slab, so what I did was use a ceiling exhaust fan hooked up to a thermal controller to evac the hot air from outside the grow tents. Using 2 x 600 in flower and 1 x 400 in veg, with a 130w for clones. Only need to use it in the warmer months, temps in flower around the 30 - 32 mark on the warm days, but opening the bedroom door to let the cooler air in helps keep it a bit lower.
