A couple of quick questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, new grower here, just with a couple of questions for your infinite wisdom!

Currently growing my first ever babies, 2x Northern Lights plants which are meant to be autoflowering and feminised seeds.

That leads to my first question, if they're autoflowering, does that mean they'll just all of a sudden start flowering with no change in lighting conditions? Roughly how old will they be when this happens? Will I need to put them into 12/12 with an HPS when they start flowering, or could I just keep them at 24 hours (or whatever I'm doing at the time)?

Apparently they're feminised seeds, is that a guarentee? Or if I stuff something up along the way can they still turn into dreaded males?

Lastly, one thing I don't quite get. After harvesting, is it then curtains for the plant? Going by what you guys normally do, do you take your cuttings to clone it and be done with the original plant, or is it better to somehow keep the plant alive and get it to flower again somehow? I mean, if it has a well established root system, would that be easier that growing whole new plants, or genetically does it not work out like that?

Thanks guys! :D

Yeah Autos will flower regardless of light hours and it is better to keep the day hours long when flowering them (from what I've read anyway). Dunno how old it would differ from a few weeks to more.

If a feminised seed turns out male that's from poor breeding.

With auto plants you grow them once then that's it you have to start again from seed. With regular (photoperiod) plants  you can clone them if you like and you can also reveg them after they have flowered. You can also choose when you want them to flower by manipulating the photoperiod.

Naycha :peace:
