1000w Versus 600w Hps

Recommended Posts

plus im sure your aware that 2 600 is a 1200 watt, compared to a 1000 watt it makes sense to yeild more out of the 600s. cause your using 200 watts more.

And like Luke pointed out, 2 600s have a better coverage.

only issue is its another plug, ballast.

ps- I use a 400 and a 600 and my 600 has to date given me more yeild than the 400, by roughly 2 ozs.

the best lumens for 1000 i know of is hortilux super hps 145000 lumens

the 600 i know of is philips son t plus hps 600 at 90 000 which is 10000 more lumens then the sunmaster cool delux 1000 metal halid which is 80000

anyways for me i go with the 1000 for this reason only power consumtion a standard 1000 runs at about 4 amps where a 600 runs at about 3 and a 400 2.2 amps

So heres my thing for 5000 watts of power id rather use 5 1000's at 20 amps then the 8 600's at 24 amps and its only 4800 watts.

Now i have a question that i really dont know the answer to .A house has 100amp line into it so there for using less amps would mean less of a power bill wouldnt it ??? also the 1000's in total only have a total of 5000 extra lumens on those figures. But the 600's have less lumens and chew more power.

Now on overgrow there is a tool that you can use where you can work out your power cost

http://www.overgrow.com/tools/powercost.php

My question is a 1000 watt light supposedly uses 1kw of power an hour and thats at 4 amps now this calculator doesnt ask if you use 400/600 or 1000 im guessing its totaled on amount of watts x cost per kilowat x amount of hours.

Does anyone else get where im going with this :P there for 4800 watts is 24amps using 600 but only 20 amps using 1000's grrrrrrr have i got it all wrong about the amperage being power used or should it just be total watts

Discerning Grower 5 x 700 ???? <<< whats that for whats the 700 represent.

Concentrating on amps sure but more lumens mean bigger yield.

I dont need light rails i use vertical lighting.

Plant numbers are a concern to me these days so id rather grow indoor trees

For a better idea of what im talking about look at this thread

:P Tartass, yes you should calculate your power usage by cost of power per Kw x watts per globe x hours used e.g.

1000w = 1Kw

average cost per Kw = 12c

bloom usage = 12 hrs per day

12c x 12 hrs = $1.44 per day

I think amps refers to how much grunt is in the line, not actually usage.

DG

only a fool calls others a fool

Nice way to get bad info

Thanks to everyone (with the obvious exception) for input.
